Check with local police to register bike and to see if they have a record of it being stolen. Otherwise Google stolen bicycle, but be aware that there's nothing you can do to verify for sure that it is not stolen. Keep a record of your efforts, in case someone claims later that it is stolen, so that you aren't charged with receiving stolen property. You can also get a statement from the seller that they have legal ownership of the bike.

There is no single "good site." Google search stolen bike and you will find numerous sites. No way to predict if the owner of a bike will report the theft or which site they will pick. That being said, here's one specific one to try: BikePedia

Rather than try and answer your question since I'm not exactly sure whether you want to remove the "TIRE" or the "WHEEL" of your motorcycle, (I do realize that you stated TIRE in your question), I'd recommend you click on this link www.motorcycleforum.com/showthread.php?t=86436

Anything you want to know about your bike will be available on this site either as a downloadable service manual, instructions for modifications, parts for sale, and a chat forum with others that ride and repair your specific motorcycle. This is a wonderful site. I have been a member with every bike I have ever owned and found it amazingly helpful.

Good luck with that. The problem is that most people never register a bike after they buy it. If it is an expensive bike you could try the manufacturer to see if they have any record of someone registering it or contact local police and ask.

Hi, if it's a newer model, you can get a free download by registering at Honda Owners. If the bike is too old, it will offer to sell you a hardcopy manual. Here is the websire to register: https://www.ahm-ownerlink.com/
Once you have registered, click the "Add a Vehicle" link. Enter the data on your bike, etc.
Once the bike data is loaded, click the "My CB900F2" link at the top right next to the bike under your "My vehicles" tab. This will go to a page that has a link to the owner's manual. See snapshots below, and thanks for using FixYa.

First, run the serial number by the cops, they can tell you if it is stolen or not, they should then be able to give you the name of the registered owner, who you would need to contact to get the title papers replaced. then do a lein search. It may cost a few bucks but is cheaper then stripping it down and rebuilding,Second, the frame and the engine are both numbered, it would be good to check both.
