Question about GPX D1816 DVD Player

GPX DVD Player

I have the same problem that a few people said that they had, "bad disk" on the tv screen. The player tries to load the disk, but eventually says "bad disk". DVD player is brand new and have only used it about three times. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm having the same problem saying bad disc. I have even tried cleaning the lasers of it and no help. I have also unplugged it for half hour. Still no change. Can you suggest something new?

I have the same bad disk message. Bought two at the same time the other one works fine. If by chance it does read the disk it freezes the screen when it starts to play.

Same problem - The loading time is excessive, then it reads "bad disc". I kept opening and closing until it finally started to work, but it was only for a few seconds, then it just froze.

Screen says loading. Then says (no disc)

There are a lot of reasons why that could happen. Sometimes when a DVD player needs to be cleaned it won't read a disk.Sometimes when you try to play a NTSC disk on a PAL DVD player or visa versa it won't play. Region coding could be another issue. And sometime home burned DVDs won't play in certain players.

Dvd in player but display says no disk

Check the regional code of the DVD you want to play. It is at the back of the DVD cover. It should be compatible with the regional code which your DVD player can play. If they are not tallying the disc will not be read

Disk rotating and a message "invalid disk"

you can try manually cleaning the laser lens ( gently wipe , do not press down hard , it is suspended by fine wires ) using a q-tip and a drop of that cleaning solution you got with the laser lens disc. ( fluff another q-tip a little ) then dry wipe it with another q-tip and try a disc.
you can look at the laser lens and see if you see the laser come on also to determine if that is working ( do not look directly into the laser ! )
if the laser works but it still does not read discs after cleaning it manually , then there is a problem with the focus coil on the laser or the signal board is bad

Disk rotating and a message "invalid disk"

I work for Coby technical support. Our customer service phone number is 1-800-727-3592.

If the unit is showing "invalid disk" on every disk that you try to play, unfortunately, the unit has developed a defect and needs to be replaced. Our warranty is 90 days from the date of purchase. If you've had the player longer than 90 days, I regret to inform you it is out of warranty.

If you feel this solution doesn't deserve a good rating, please let me know why so that I may better assist you. If there is anything more I can do to help, I will!

I have a Sony DVD player hooked up to my TV. The player is approximately 5 yrs old. It seems that when its on for 15-20 minutes, the movie in it freezes. Even if the movie is brand new, the message on...

Well I wont be as quick to buy a new player yet!!

Firstly i would clean the lens and try running it the the cover off.. That should give you some time. But yes eventually you will need a player. Also the movie that freeze in the same place every time, try that on a neighbours or friends player to be certin it works :)..

I always try to avoid spending unnecessary cash or delaying it for as much as i possibly can. Hopefully taking the cover off will allow it to cool better giving you a few months to get things in order.

Cant play anything on it

I had the same problem, After googling for a few minutes I found the reset procedure for this player.

1. Turn it on.
2. Eject any disk you have in there and close the tray.
3. Hold down the "STOP" button on the player (not remote) until the green light flashes red and the system reboots.
4. Insert disk and enjoy.

This worked for me... mileage may vary.
