Clean the inside of a 5 disk dvd/cd changer

The system itself was bought brand new for us after our house burned and for a long time went unused. we had a dvd player and didn't need it. Now we are trying to use it for the first time really in my son's room, and it turns and everything it is supposed to do except play. it clicks when reading the disk and I know from past experience that means either the disk is messy or faulty or scratched or the system needs cleaning or something. the dvds are new so it has to be the system. how do I clean it? can i get the stuff to clean it with at any dept. store? thanks for your input.

If you go to your local electronics store or even Walmart LOL.. you can get a CD/DVD lens cleaner. it looks like a CD with a little brush attached to it. EASY AS PIE..
that is IF it is the lens.
BTW.. I am a DJ so I have had my share of drama with CD players
Hope this helps you.. I am new to this site
Happy Fixing =)

CD changers that are autoplay such as Bose 6CD units in Infiniti G models do not have a manual "play" button. They are autoplay only and cleaning discs will not work in them, so says the manufacturer of the one I phoned. Thus we must take apart the unit to clean the lens. Big hassle.

I have a Samsung 600 watt DVD Audio 5 DVD changer model number HTDS 610 it will not read the DVDs how do I get it to work

The system should work with CD DVD audio and video. Both, bought and burned ROM disks. Don't try to play Blue ray disks.
Firs you should try to plat a CD. Please use a bought one not a self burned, because from those you can't be sure the music is burned as it should. If the CD works, also put in a bought DVD.
If non works, your player is defect. I don't think you have the skills nor the equipment to see what is wrong and you can't solve any problem inside. But if the bought disks work, check the format on the other disks. They should be like the manual describes.
A link to the manual is here:

Hi, i recently purchased a LG dvd burner and dont have a installation cd or software. Is there another way to fix this problem?

Hello, Your computer will automatically install the basic drivers for the burner to view cds but to burn a dvd or music cd or data cd or photo cd you will need software to do so. Windows XP and newer operating systems have a simple burning software using Windows Explorer which will pull the appropriate application automatically. I recommend a program such as Nero which originally comes with most burners. But for a more advance and controlled burning program Roxio has the easiest and most versatile program for about 50.00. Keep in mind if you want to make back-up copies of bought DVD movies or software you will have to have a specific program such as DVDFab. I can send you a copy of the actual software Cd that originally comes with your burner if you need it as I have bought several LG burners which now I have multiple copies of the software with OEM Keys. They have Nero V6.6 which is good for simple disk burning. Also keep in mind when buying blank disk NEVER buy the cheap unknown brands or the cheesy store brand disks as you will waste more disk due to bad coatings than you would if you bought better brands such as Memorex or Sony. Verbatim brand is a good inexpensive disk perfect for learning how a burner works due to the cost being reasonable and if you make a mistake burning the disk its not as bad a monetary loss. After you learn how to use the burner and program and you are ready to make good permanent disks then get an archival type disk with at least a 50 year storage time, (Your local computer store will help you with picking out the right kind, these disks are expensive but if you want to store vital photos or such this is the kind you need). Also A DVD-R is the most versatile disk for most players old and new and a DVD+R if more for burning on the "fly" and for newer expensive players. A CD/DVD±RW means you can reuse a single disk more than once but are very unreliable.

I bought a RCA 5 DVD Disk Changer last Christmas.

my suggestion (not necessarily solution) is cleaning.
Although it can take multiple DVD's there is only one reader inside of it.
Do you have small children?? :-)

Won't format new DVD-RW disks

i did everyting today to fix this. bought new dvds, name brands different, tried finding codes, called the number. trust me. try this. clean it. thats All i did. cleaned it with a dvd cd cleaning disc, the one with two little brushes on it, nothing special, ran it until i heard the beep, popped my dvd in, they all worked. everyone, im still recording. i ran it about four times. now, if you tried to burn a dvd, and got the error, throw that dvd away. because i tried about ten dvds. after i fixed it, THOSE dvds were no longer usable. dont know why. hope this works.

Mini DVD Camcorder Problem

You will never be able to recover the information. Sony's system really will have problems with third party brands; there is particular engineering that makes this so. In my shop (Sony authorized), I have seen this problem many times. If you insist on using other brands, get used to problems. As your laser assembly wears it will become more problematic. Good luck, magic seadog

Put in a cd and it says "no disk"

The laser lens in your CD might be dirty or failing. Try the following solutions: Clean the laser lens with a DVD player lense cleaning disc. Lense cleaning discs are available at many electronics retail store. Sorry i can't help you more.
