Probably the problem you experiencing is the side panel at the bust is longer than the front panel at the bust. There are usually notches on both panels indicating that the fabric must be "eased" between the two notches so that it matches the other panel's notches.
Here's a video on sewing Princess seams:

She does not match the notches, but you probably should to make it easier until you know what to expect.
Make Sure you always put the Longer piece of fabric on the Bottom (next to the feed dogs) so the feed dogs will help you ease the longer fabric onto the shorter fabric.
Here's a YouTube video on how to ease in sleeve caps that may help when more fabric easing is required:

If you are working with straight pieces of fabric and need to ease one and it is only a "slight" difference, you can usually accomplish it by bypassing the gathering technique she shows in this video. If you are sewing long pieces of fabric together, then you may want to divide Each piece into halves, fourths, or even eighths (depending on how long the fabric is). Mark each piece at each dividing point and then pin the two pieces of fabric together matching the corresponding dividing points. Again, Be Sure that you place the Longer piece of fabric on the bottom (next to the feed dogs).
This is a technique that is developed by experienced sewers
I suggest that you go to a local sewing shop where there are people who will be only too willing to help you with this problem
it is like a sewers club and it is always helpful if you want to take on more ambitious projects.
