Hand set says connecting even before it is reset with new base.

The CS6229-3 base shorted out, bought a CS6229-2 base so I can use the hand sets from the -3 model. Connect new base to power and plugged battery's into hand set and screen says connecting. Tried to do a reset and nothing is working.

This sounds like a registration problem, each 'old'
handset must be de-registered from its original
base and then registered to the 'new' base.

NOTE: the CS6229 handles a maximum of 5
handsets. If you have a handset displaying
"Handset #5" then you have a 'fully populated system'
even if you actually have only one or two handsets.

You will need to clear each handset ( I ) then clear
the base of all registrations ( II ) before re-registering
each handset ( III ) up to the maximum of five.
=====================================
( I ). First, to de-register a handset ---

0. Start by taking off the battery compartment cover.

1. press [menu]
2. scroll up/down to "Settings"
3. enter * 7 8 9 0 #
4. scroll down to "next page", press [select]
5. scroll down to "Register Clear?", press [select]
6. display asks "Confirm?" or "Register Clear??",
press [select]
7. display reads "Ok" and chirps, press [ off ]

8. UNPLUG THE HANDSET BATTERY
(this is why the cover was off)

9. Wait ~30 seconds, re-connect the battery &
replace the cover

10. display reads "Not Registered"
===============================

( II.) To clear the base of all handset registrations
( if needed, else skip ahead to ( III ). )

1. press [Find Handset] on the base and hold
past ~4 sec when the "In Use" lamp lights, at
about 10 secs the "In Use" lamp will begin to
blink. 2. release the [Find Handset] button momentarily,
then briefly press it again. After a moment,
all handsets that were registered to the base
(if any) will display "Not Registered" and be
ready for fresh registration ===============================

( III.) To register each handset to the base:

1. press [Find Handset] on the base and hold for
~4 sec until the "In Use" lamp lights.
2. press # on the handset and set the handset into
the handset cradle on the base
3. within 30 seconds or so, the handset will either
chirp and display "Handset Registered", then
"Handset #x" or it will say "Registration Failed".

NOTE: the battery must be well charged prior to the
registration process, a weak battery may cause a
"Registration Failed". Charge the battery for a
few hours and try the registration ( III ) again.

===============================
Good luck !!

SOURCE: wired base unit

Try a simple thing, replace the phone cord that goes from the wall to the phone with a new one. That'll make sure you still have a good phone connection. Cords cheap.

You have a power transformer that plugs into the wall.  See if you can find a replacement at a surplus store or Radio Shack (a different store)  Take the old one with you so you can match the voltage/ampere and connector.  If its new it will work fine.  If its surplus, it's hit or miss.

If that does not work  or you don't want to bother buy as new phone.  With the constant upgrades you might find one with better features you'll like more.  Who knows.

Good luck

How do i reset the answering machine on my cordless phones at home

My panasonic handsets have a row of black buttons above the number keys and answer and end call buttons. The screen above these shows little pictographs of what the buttons will do, the left has a book which is the phone numbers stored on the hand set, the middle one has a picture of 2 rows of 3 white dots, this is the button to press once. You then get options of Caller list, Answer system, Handset setup and Base unit set up. Use the big central button with arrows to scroll through the list, please note that the base unit is off screen initially. Select Answer system by pressing the black button below ok. This givs a new list of options, Play new message, play all messages, Record Greating, Answer on, Answer off, PLay greating, Erase message and settings. Slect the required option by pressing black button below the on screen OK. The left hand button will take you back a step, but if you don't press anything after a short time hand set returns to normal. Hope this helps

Base el5200 will not reconize new hand set

To deregister the new handsets from their old bases and re-register
them to your base, try this for each new handset...

1. When the new handset says "Connecting..." and goes nowhere
else, enter *331734 [menu] and it will soon beep and display
"Not registered"

2. To register the new handset to your base: on the base press
the "Handset Locator" button and hold it until the "in use" light
comes on ( ~ 4 seconds ), then release the button and set the
new handset into the base phone cradle. After ~ 30 seconds
it will beep and display its "Handset #" (next in sequence).

3: Note: the base has a limit to how many handsets it can handle,
I believe it is five handsets maximum for the EL52300.

If your system was fully populated ( ie, a handset is already # 5 )
you will have to clear all the handsets from the base and
re-register them in sequence ( it is the only way to 'rescue' the
places occupied by the lost handsets ).

To clear the base of all registrations:

1. Press and hold the the "Handset Locator" button until the
"in use" light lights and then starts to blink ( ~ 10 seconds ),
release the button -- then press it again briefly while the "in use"
light is still blinking.

2. The base will beep and all handsets will display
"Not Registered"

3. Follow the instructions above for each handset in turn: press
"Handset Locator" ~ 4sec ( in-use light on ), set handset into
the base cradle, etc.

The manual is available from: www.manualslib.com
but does not describe these procedures.

Good luck !

I have just inherated the at&t e5634b phone system. I have replaced the batteries in the hand sets. As per the manual I have de-registered each hand set. The problem is that when I register the...

This problem can be caused by the following, A bad battery, (which you say you are all new). A full base memory and a Faulty main base unit
This main base unit can only expand to four handsets and no more. If the base unit has been reset then the assigned numbers for each handset would begin with " handset 1" if they show any other number when reset then it would not have been reset..To re-set main base you will have to
De-Register All Handsets
Unplug the power supply from the base unit then Remove all handsets from the charge cradles and base then Press and hold the PAGE button on the base.
Plug in the power supply again while pressing the PAGE button, Continue pressing PAGE until the IN USE and CHARGING indicators are lit. (this could take up to 10 seconds)
Release the PAGE button All Handsets will display "enter base id".
If this does not solve your problem then you will have to replace the main base

Connecting headset to phone

Setup the Plantronics CS60 wireless headset as follows:

  • Locate the 2 ports on the bottom of the CS60 charging base. One has an icon of a "full telephone" and the other has an icon of a "hand receiver."
  • Unplug the hand receiver from the base of your existing telephone and plug it into the "hand receiver" port on the CS60 base unit.
  • Then take the short cable that came with the CS60 and plug it into the "full telephone" port on the base of the CS60.
  • Plug the other end of the short cord into the hand receiver port of your telephone (where the hand receiver just was).
  • Make sure the AC Power is plugged into the wall, and then you can adjust the configuration settings.
To be able to hear or speak through the handset, either place the headset back into its charging cradle or press the call control button on the side of the headset. The talk indicator light on the base should go off and no sound will come through the headset.

Note: Make sure that the cables are connected correctly and the handset cable is connected to the base of the CS60 base.
