My THERAPURE wouldn't turn on either. I got it when my mom upgraded but could never get it to power on. I came here for help. I figured it out myself. The filter was put in upside down after it was cleaned. Odd that it even fit. I flipped it, plugged it in, and it turned right on! Good luck. Hope your fixes are all as easy as mine!

    Nicely done Kristen McMillian...

That's exactly how I got started...
I had a trouble & ended up fixing it myself.

Then after a while I noticed how I got better at puzzling out what information could be divined from very little... Still working on my smooth finish: what comes to you naturally.

    Good job!

SOURCE: Pure Ion will not turn

It sounds like the main board is not getting power. The power supplies have capacitors inside that do overheat and burn out. You can test power coming from power supply leading to main board with a voltmeter. You can try to unplug for 8 hours, in meantime while unplugged, press and hold power button for 5 seconds, then wait 1/2 hour and plug back in to see if unit has reset itself

My sister gave me her Brookstone Pure ion Air purifier....The "clean filter" light flashes red....I wiped the filter with a damp cloth...so think it is clean...?....Is this how to clean it? ....and how do...

Wiping it off won't clean the filter. I submerse mine in hot soapy water ( oxiclean w/any favorite multipurpose liquid cleaner.Let it air dry completely before placing it back in unit.I have tried the dishwasher method and it didn't clean it.I also thoroughly wash all crevices of the unit.If red light doesn't go off, reclean the filter(s). It has all ways worked for me.

Pure Ion will not turn on. We took out the filters to clean them. Wall outlet works for other items. Have tried other outlets.

Brookstone Pure-ion Advanced

i am a low voltage tech my wife told me that our 506840 air cleaner stopped working so being a tech geek i had to know why it just stopped working.when plugged in i heard a click telling me that the main board was getting power.opened the back end where power cord goes to put my meter and voltage was going to the main power coil. but the main board was oxidized. when my wife was cleaning the filters and might not have had the filters completely dried the water was dripping down to main board.the unit to main power source is not design very well where water from cleaning the filters can drip down to main power board.solution i am working on is trying to get a new board when we bought this it was $499.00

Brookstone pure ion filters

You need to reset it, unplug the unit and take out both filters. Then, plug it back and and simultaneously and firmly slam both filters into the back of it at the same time. Before putting both filters back inside the until, also vacuum out the insides in case there is hair/dust inside of it that has accumulated.
Also, make sure your filters are 100% dry before every putting them back inside the unit.
Good luck!
