SOURCE: Our GE Profile JTP18 keeps flashing "door lock" since we ran a self clean

most of the time a simple fix.... http://www.geappliances.com/search/fast/infobase/10004586.htm
you have to trick the door lock mech into cycling through the cleaning process (takes about 20 seconds)
Print Range - “LOCKED DOOR” flashes in the display

If “LOCKED DOOR” is flashing in the display of your range or oven, and the self-clean cycle has not been selected, follow the steps below to reset your control:

Motorized Switch

    1. With the door open, locate the door jamb switch on the face of the oven. It will look like a small black post or dowel.
    2. Push it in until the oven cavity light goes off, indicating that the oven believes the door is closed.
    3. While you hold the door jamb switch in this position, complete the following steps.
    4. Press the Clean pad, wait 10 seconds.
    5. When the cycle initiates, press the clear/off or cancel pad immediately to cancel it.
    6. Wait 10 seconds for the display to clear.
    7. The door should unlock and there should not be a need for service.
Manual Switch
    1. Press the Clean pad.
    2. Close the door.
    3. Slide the latch to lock the door.
    4. Hit the cancel button immediately.
    5. Unlock the door.
If the above does not correct the situation, a service technician will need to check your cooking product. To obtain in or out of warranty repair on Major Appliances, you may call 1-800-GE-CARES (800-432-2737) or schedule service online.

Oven door remains locked after self clean cycle - but the oven has cooled

Number one Tip, NEVER use self cleaning cycles. They only exist to break ovens and sell parts.

Try disconnecting the mains after about 10 minutes of cool down time. If that doesn't work, you will need a service call to correctly diagnose if the lock solenoid has failed or you need a new control board.

How to clean self clean oven

You need to read the oven manual on how to start the self-cleaning cycle. You cannot use an oven cleaner like Easyoff as it can destroy the surface that's meant to be self cleaning. The oven door will lock during the cycle and during the cool down, so it can't be opened during the cleaning cycle.

Oven will not unlock after self cleaning

User manual says that the oven must cool off. I am sure this is not the case. Try starting the oven self clean function, and then clear/off to stop the function. Since the oven is cool, perhaps the oven will unlock.

Finally, you could try turning off the circuit breaker and then back on to see if it unlocks - unfortunately you will have to reprogram everything. All else fails, call a technician.

Used self cleaning process on my oven yesterday and today the oven will not turn on, we keep getting message to unlock the oven door even though it is. What can we do?

The oven gets extremely hot during the self-cleaning mode... the door switch might have got stuck in locked position, or broken in locked position (to be replaced), let's hope it's just stuck...which you'll need to work the mechanical lock-unlock latching back and forth to hopefully unstick....and if that doesn't work just re-run self-cleaning process but this time let the oven cool completely before unlocking the door. Hope this helps.

Oven will not unlock after self clean

Unfortunately, the high temperature limit sensor probably failed during the self-clean cycle. The oven control unit will not receive the signal that the oven is cool enough to unlock the door without the sensor.

If the oven is cool, you can try unplugging the oven for a while and then see if the oven unlocks after power is restored. Pressing the Cancel button several times (or pressing and holding Cancel, depending on the model) may also work. Sometimes, starting a new cleaning cycle and then stopping it (and waiting for the oven to cool) will work.

However if the sensor has failed, the above steps are unlikely to work. You can try to move the lock manually. On some models, you can use a bent coat hanger to slide between the oven door and the frame and push the lock over. On other units, you might open the back panel and rotate the lock mechanism cam.

The oven will not work until the high temperature sensor is replaced. Sometimes the lock mechanism fails and that is what needs to be replaced. If the oven works, then look at replacing the lock motor.

I hope this helps. If your oven is under warranty, contact GE for the repair. Please add a comment with the model of your unit for specific information on the parts you may need.

How do i operate the self cleaning function

Hello - Before using the self-cleaning cycle of the appliance, remove the broiler pan and any utensils stored in the appliance. Also remove any excess spillovers in the oven cavity. Allow the oven to cool before cleaning. During the self-cleaning cycle, the outside of the wall oven can become very hot to the touch.

Typically to set the controls for a self-clean the first step is to confirm that the clock shows the correct time of the day. Press CLEAN. "---" appears in the display. Press the UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW once. "3:00" appears in the display for a 3 hour cycle. To change to a 2 hour cycle press DOWN ARROW"2:00" appears in the display. As soon as the controls are set, the motor drive lock will begin to close automatically and the "LOCK" indicator light will flash. DO NOT open the oven door while the light is flashing (it takes about 15 seconds for the over door to lock). "CLn" will appear in the display during the Self-Clean cycle and the "LOCK" light will glow until the Self-Cleaning cycle is complete or cancelled and the oven temperature has cooled.

When the Self-Clean cycle has completed, the time of the day or "End" will appear in the display window and the "Clean" and "LOCK" light will continue to glow. Once the over has cooled down for about 1 HOUR and the "LOCK" light has gone out, the oven door can be opened. If "End" is the display and the Clean indicator light remains ON, press CLEAR/OFF. The time of the day will appear in the display.

If it becomes necessary to stop or interrupt a Self-Cleaning cycle, press CLEAR/OFF. Once the oven has cooled down for about 1 HOUR and the "LOCK" light has gone out, the oven door can be opened. Restart the Self-Clean cycle once all conditions have been corrected.

Started to self-clean, locked the door, etc. Had

Hi.

The appliance door is probably locked in consequence of the self cleaning cycle.

Unplug power cord, and allow the oven cooling down for few hours.

If the is still locked, then the high temperature generated in self cleaning cycle may have damaged the door latch, or the electronic control.

Parts must be tested to discover the fault.

Call Frigidaire at the number listed on the owners manual.

Regards.

Need to know how to operate the ''self-cleaning'' function of the GE TrueTemp Oven.

Take the chrome racks out of the oven
make sure oven is COLD
move lever on door to the right
turn dial to CLEAN display should say 4 hours, but I've found 3 hours is plenty, reduce by touching Cook Time
YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR FOR 3-4 HOURS.

Oven Door Locked

the oven door does lock during self clean, otherwise it will not work. however, the door is supposed to unlock after the oven has cooled. if it is still locked, turn the oven to self clean and wait about a minute and then hit cancel and see if the door unlocks. if not, there may be a probelm with the door lock mechanism.
