Ok, I have been gifted with a Lexmark X1240, it has a CD with it with 730 series on it, does it belong to the X1240?? I am not a well instructed computer person kind of illiterate as far as knowledge about this stuff goes, can you help??

Though it says Lexmark 1250 but its for all printer series 1200, hence will work for you.

Download the driver for the operating system you are running and install correctly to get it working.

It will work, its for the 730 series and thats how lexmark does there software and drivers for there printers.

Please use the following steps to download the Lexmark X1270 driver to your desktop:
1. Select "Window XP" from the drop down list.
Note please select the operating system from the drop down list.
2. Click on "Download Now."
3. On the "File Download" screen, choose "Save."
4. The next screen will be titled "Save As." Choose to "Save in Desktop" and click "OK."
5. You should see files being transferred.

You can install your X1240 All-on-One by following follwing these steps

1) Insert your X1240 installation Disk in the CD drive. Install the software by following the instructions on the screen.

2)Connect the USB cable of the printer to your computers USB port. Your printer will be detected and Ready to work.

3) If you have Windows Vista , download the upgrade drivers from Lexmark Website and intall them, then connect your X1240.

select your operating system and downlaod then install.

Go to your control Panel and double click on printers and open it. It should say "Lexmark 1200 series". Below this it should say "Ready". If it does'nt say Ready, rightclick the printer and click on Use online or offline. If you see "Lexmark 120 series copy 1, delete the copy and you should be ok. Also, make sure the lexmark is the dedicated printer.

The Lexmark 730 is compatable with the Vista operating system but the driver CD that came with the printer is out of date. I would recommend that you download the lastest driver for the printer from http://downloads.lexmark.com/static/229-1-0-501.html
