Why wont my brand new printer not print anything?

Start by uninstalling the printer software... then re-install the newest software from the HP website. Always works for me...

Is the ink installed correct? On the ink, make sure the protective tape is pulled off so it makes contact. Also, check to make sure all the packing material is pulled off the printer.

Is this a brand new computer or did you upgrade to Windows 7? If you did an upgrade, you needed to uninstall the old drivers (with the printer disconnected from the computer). Then you could install Windows 7 and finally install the printer.

You can try unplugging the USB cable, uninstalling the printer and then reinstalling it.

What software are you using to create the file that you want to print? With Microsoft Office, I have seen reports that changing the font on a document can cure a failure to print the document with Word.

I had the same problem with mine but I bought a refill cartridge instead of a new one and went through three refilled cartridges when I found that it was that I needed a brand new one. For some reason, the HP printers and some other printers need to know that you are using the same brand of ink as the printer. if it is another brand it wont except it and it wont let you print anything! So make sure it is a brand new hp brand ;)

Have you installed the softeare which came with it? Every so often mine throws a wobbly and I have to reinstall the software-I suspect that my antivirus or something deletes one of its files now and then! Go to the lexmark.co.uk or lexmark.com site(no other site)and look for the tab offering drivers or downloads. Download the program for your printer and operating system and install it. If you already have a disc to do this-install it again-overwriting previous installations. Also-have you taken the tape off the printhead on the cartridge? Sounds daft but sometimes people forget.

I have seen many NEW dried out cartridges. i would try new ones again.

I don't know why it is, but, so many of the printer problems I answer have to do with original install cd being corrupted(it may have to with mass production process) anyway, you can try this:
Create a new folder on your desktop and name it newhpdrivers(substitute your manufacturer in new name). Un-intall printer and printer software completely. Go to manufacturers website and navigate to their drivers/downloads or support menu. Select your model, choose the relevant software and download to the new folder you created on your desktop. Power down your computer. Reconnect the printer to the computer and turn printer on. Power on pc. Windows will detect new hardware and ask if you have the manufacturers install cd or a location to check for install files. Direct the wizard to your new software, follow the rest of the setup instructions and your done

Yes it is a print driver problem, Unplug usb, delete all previous attemps at install, delete print software and drivers, Download and install correct driver from HP, plug in usb only when directed to do so.

go to Start, Settings, Control panel, printers and faxes is your printer there? is there a checkmark? no, then right click and set as default, put your mouse over it does it say Ready? no, then change cable.

 

send test page, it should print, if not the USB or Parrallel input of your printer has a problem.
