The FAI-3A is just the "Walmart exclusive" version of the SLC-4. The two products are identical except for the model number.

OK what you are saying now is that your speakers are dual voice coil; models? 4 Ohms per Coil? I have always used single 4 Ohm Voice ciol speakers since amps are mostly based on 4 Ohm outputs. but you can get 8 Ohm dual voice coil subs also. With 8 Ohms per coil you can get 4 Ohms if you parallel the wires. What is best for you and will get you the most stable power and still will be in the specs of that amp is to run the amp in BRIDGED MODE running each subs voice coils in series with each other then run those 2 subs in parallel to the amplifier giving it a 4 Ohm load. So, your will have two sets of wires from your amp 1 for each speaker. Then you will take a short piece of wire that will connect the + to the - of each voice coil then hook up the wires from your amp to each sub What it will be is 4 Ohms + 4 Ohms = 8 Ohms per speaker the 8 Ohms in parallel each speaker to the Bridged amp output using just the + from one channel and the - from the other will give you a total of 4 ohms and power out put of 600 Watts so that ends up being 150 watts per voice coil or 300 watts each speaker

NO!!NO!!NO!! Dont hook up just a sub to rca outputs. they run at around 2-3 volts and maybe 1 watt. the difference in the settings is for a sub amp(sub) or a amp for mids and highs (amp). the only way you will not need to run an amplifier is if you get a powered subwoofer, as these already have an amp built in.

I have 2 10" Kicker Comp Subs
That amplifier is only rated at 150 watts at 4 ohms, or 300 watts at 2 ohms. Not a very strong amp to run 2 kicker comps. My guess is you have the subs wired wrong for your application. There are 2 types of subs, one is a dual 4 ohm, and one is a dual 2 ohm. Most people bridge these coils together and that cuts your ohms in half. For example. Lets say you have the 10cvr104 subs. Thats the dual 4 ohm sub. You wire the coils together in parallel, now its a 2 ohm sub. You have 2 of these subs running off of your amp, if they are hooked up in parallel, now you have a 1 ohm load, out of the amplifiers normal operation. Your amplifiers internals heat up really quick and there is a thermal overload, putting your amplifier into circuit protection mode. My suggestion for wiring your subs is as follows: for each speaker, wire the coils together like this- positive coil1 to negative coil 2 and negative coil 1 to positive coil 2. That is called running in series, and doubles your ohm load. Next, we need to wire the speakers together properly to hook up to your amplifier. For this, since the coils are hooked together, you only need to use one set of terminals from each sub. And take the positive from sub 1 and hook it to positive of amp. Take negative sub 1 and hook it to positive of sub 2. Take negative of sub 2 and hook it to negative of amp.

Bridge at 4ohms your only getting 600watts rms. You will need to bridge at 1ohm (parallel) and adjust the gain accordingly. This will give it 1600 watts rms. If you would of had a dual 4ohm sub, then you could of bridged it at 2ohms mono, but you can't you have to go either 1 ohm or 4ohm. I believe it's not getting enough power.

what wattage are the subs and amp? if your subs are more wattage than your amp, your amp will blow fuses as cant handle the output to your subs. for example. you have 2 500 watt subs and a 300 watt amp, that is no good as amp isnt powerful enough. if you have 2 500 watt subs you need at least a 1200 watt amp to power them both. 200 watt more than the combined wattage of subs as amps should never be turned up to max as they tend to blow and overheat more quickly. 80% volume on amps is reccomended by installers and manufactures.

yor subs have dual 6 ohm voice coils from the sound of it-your amp is rated at 650 watts rms at a 1ohm load. The best you can do with the equipment you have is to wire ALL the coils of your subs in parallel and that will give you a 1.5 ohm load for the amp.It should knock the hell outta them with 300 watts on each sub - good luck

Hello hembreegerry,

If you like a lot of bass, you definitely need to consider another amp. The SP2X-300 is only rated at 170 watts RMS into 4 ohms mono. That would barely be enough to power one small sub. You do not specify what brand and model your subs are, their impedance, or their power handling capacity. But for any subs, your best power solution is to add together the individual RMS power handling capacity and select a monoblock amp that provides close to the maximum at the impedance they will be wired to present. For example, if your subs are 4 ohms and have a maximum RMS of 250 watts, you would want an amp that outputs abour 500 watts into 2 ohms (2 4 ohm subs wired in parallel = 2 ohm load). An ideal amp in that example would be the Alpine MRP-M500 which outputs 500 watts RMS into 2 ohms.

Finding the best amplifier
Hello sharky75,

That 1600 watt peak power figure for your subwoofer can't tell you what amp you need. You need to know the maximum RMS power the sub can handle. And you need to know the impedance (ohms) of the voice coil(s). JBL GT5 series subs have an RMS rating of 275 watts. The GTO series handles 300 watts. The Power series handles 400 watts. The GTi series handles 700 watts. Some are single voice coil, so the impedance is fixed. Others are dual voice coil allowing you to wire them for different impedance loads.

For maximum performance your amp should be able to provide at or near the same number of watts RMS into the lowest impedance at which the sub can be configured. For example, if your sub is the Power Series Model number P1224, it has dual 4ohm voice coils and can be wired to present either a 2ohm load (parallel) or an 8ohm load (series). You want to wire the voice coils in parallel for the 2ohm load and select an amp that outputs up to 400 watts RMS into 2ohms. The Orion Cobalt CO8001 is just such an amp. If you have one of the GTi Series subs, a better amp would be the JVC Arsenal KS-AR75 which outputs 700 watts into 2ohms.

Hi Trim God,

 

I do not reccommend that you push the Pioneer speakers over 100 watts.  The jenson will already drown the car with bass through your pioneers so much you will want to turn off the bass boost when playing some low bass hip hop songs. It changes from one venue of song to another, so I just keep the jenson bass boost off and use my head unit to adjsut the sound to fit my listening prefences. I am telling you man, you will be blown away .  Hook up the pioneers straight to the Channels,. do not bridge.  I put Subs in my truck though.  I used the Pass output to send the audio to me Jenson 2 Channel 600W amp. I drive one 10 inch enclosed JBL Class A/B Sub. I bridged the output of the 600 W amp to the 10 inch sub  in my Z28.  The pioneers never get drowned out.  I did smoke my 2 channel Amp one time. and also took out a MTD 10inch sub. I am talk shooting flames and smoked the whole car up. I think if you bride the XA4150 to the pioneers, you will have the flaming smoke problem in no time.
