My samsung 46 in has horizontal lines. It started to get a little bit off when it was first turned on and then quickly fade. Then in progressively would take more time to correct itself.

Now, however, it will not stop and is just continuing to deteriorate. I have watched some videos about weak transistors and such for similar problems, but I have no idea as to the root of this cause or if it is even worth trying to fix. Please help me to determine to problem so I can make a justified decision? Thankyou

I have similar issues with my Samsung TV model LN55A950... all I did was take the back cover off...unplugged the two wide ribbon cables of the panel from the T-Con board, then turned it on...I waited for a minute until everything normalized. at first, all i see were similar lines...horizontal pin stripes on white background...white background because the panel is not connected to any image source. Then all lines are gone, after the 'normalization." you should only see white all through out. I then turned the unit off...connected the two cables back, turned it back on...voila! my TV is back to normal viewing, no more lines!!!

Can I see the difference

Visually, there is very little difference to the eye of the average consumer between 720p and 1080. However, 720p can deliver a slightly smoother-looking image, due to the fact that lines and pixels are displayed in a consecutive pattern, rather than in an alternate pattern.your tv is display format is 720p and blu ray is 1080p. what happen is it will be scaled into 720p. old tv set format is 480p 720p represents 1,280 pixels displayed across the screen horizontally and 720 pixels down the screen vertically. This arrangement yields 720 horizontal lines on the screen, which are, in turn, displayed progressively, or each line displayed following another. 1080p, on the other hand, represents 1,080 horizontal lines displayed sequentially. This means all lines are displayed during the same pass. 1080p is the highest quality HD display format. 480p represents 720 pixels displayed across the screen horizontally and 480 pixels down the screen vertically. This arrangement yields 480 horizontal lines on the screen, which are, in turn, displayed progressively, or each line displayed following another.

LN-T4665F 46 in. LCD- Black Line across screen

The set is under a year old and is under warranty. The LVDS cable inside these sets have a history of coming loose. The problem could be the panel. Either way, the set is the problem and needs to be looked at. This set is worked on in the home and does not need to be taken to a shop, so, you can still use it. Contact Samsung at: 1-800-SAMSUNG Hope this helps.
