Stylus will only fit into certain cartridges. You have two options here. You can look up the cartridge number and make on your Detrola. It should be on the cartridge somewhere. Then search for the stylus. Or you can remove the Detrola cartridge and fit a new cartridge and stylus. As long as the cartridge will fit into the arm of your deck, plus it's the right type - ie: magnetic if the old cartridge was magnetic! Or ceramic - again if the old cartridge was...
Then you can use any make or model cartridge you want. As the quality of the sound can be improved - albeit paying more money for it - by having a good quality cartridge and stylus, it might be best in the long run to change the cartridge.

I cannot open the CD door on my Detrola KM837 4 in 1. I push the open button, sounds are emitted like it wants to work, but does not. Any suggestions?

agree with a small hole trick... but don't leave the drive ever empty. Use i.e. dummy CD media always. When you need it, just replace, spin your DVD, than put DUMMY back in the drive. Don't believe? Just try. :-)

Detrola record player

Lots of Turntable belts are very much universal. If they are the same size there's no reason to think it won't work on another make.

Record continously skips after 4 or 5 seconds.

You need to apply more pressure to the stylus. This is done by adjusting a weight on the other end of the arm. See your manual for more details.

This is a question for my daughter who lives in Japan. She has a Crosley turntable she bought from Urban Outfitters. The stylus arm has suddenly started skating over the record, ie won't play anything. ...

I have no experience of Crosley turntables, however, stylus arm skating across the record surface on any turntable is normally due to the counter balance weight being incorrectly adjusted. In order to track across a record properly, the stylus must press down on to the record very lightly. If there is too little pressure, skating is what tends to happen. Too much pressure can cause distortion of the sound and excessive wear of the record.

At the pivoting end of the stylus arm, there should be a counter balence weight. This is normally adjustable (but not always - depends on quality and features of the particular turntable), and is used to set the pressure the stylus applies to the record surface, measured in grammes. The manual that came with it should tell you how to adjust it, but for most turntables stylus pressure is between 1 to 3 grammes.

If you dont have the manual, have a good look at the pivoting end of the stylus arm to see if soemthing is obviously wrong, or if not whether there is something with numbers on it that can be turned or slid. This is likley to be the counter weight. Try adjusting it.
Within reason, the stylus weight isnt critical so a "trial and error" approach wont do any harm.

You have probably done this, but I had same problem on one I was given with no manual. I couldn't get the turn table to turn and by accident I move the arm to the right, away from record and it began turning. Hope that helps.
