First after you boot it up normally (not Safe Mode) can you move the mouse far to the left or to the right do you see the mouse. If you do see the mouse pointer you are running dual monitor mode and the laptop screen is set as the primary monitor. You have to run it in Save Mode and set the external monitor as the primary monitor. Hit the Start button then select Help+Support and in the search box enter "dual monitors". Read how to set up the primary monitor.
Second maybe you need to activate the external monitor. When laptops boot normally (not Safe Mode again) with a external monitor connected you have to hit the Fn (function) key (probably blue near Alt key) and some other number key (it probably has a blue monitor symbol on it) I'm not sure which one. This key sequence is a toggle sequence. In other words when you boot a laptop it goes directly to the laptop screen then the first time you do a Fn + number key combination it will turn on the external monitor and turn off the laptop screen the next time you push Fn+number key it will turn on both monitors (external and laptop screen) the third time it will turn on only the laptop screen and so forth.
First thing I'd check is for a BIOS update for your computer under the Acer support pages (acer.com). In some cases, thermal control updates are included in newer version of the BIOS, if it is a manufacturing problem.
Goto http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php and download Hardware Monitor, start the computer and immediately run the hardware monitor app to check how high the temperature on the CPU gets before it shuts down.
Continuing use under this condition may damage your Windows installation because of the sudden shutdown.
If the system has integrated video with a DVI expansion card, you can use two monitors.
If the system has a PCI-E dual head video card (2 video connections on the video expansion card) then you can use 2 monitors.
If the system has a single head PCI-E video card (ATI HD2400) with a single DVI port, then that card disables the on-board VGA port.
So first you have to find out what the hardware configuration actually is for the Video Card. Then we can look at the monitors and how they are connected.
Post back with details on the video card and the monitors you are trying to connect if you need further information.
turn the pc off and turn it back on, when it boots back up hit the fn key for lcd/external monitor until it works by turning it off of course i mean hold the power button down for 8 seconds
Ensure your are running the monitors in dual mode still. Open your Nvidia Control Panel and click on "setup up multiple displays" Then on right panel you should see where to select your option on how to run the 2nd one. You might need a driver update from Nvidia, especially if you recently took an update from Microsoft.
Hope this helps

Well, my friend. The issue is, the dual monitor hast THREE modes: 1. Internal monitor only 2. External monitor only, and 3. Both monitor simultaneusly. You may need to keep pressing the FN combination until you reach the mode you want. (You need to wait about 3 seconds before the mode can be observed)
All you have to do is connect your laptop to a monitor via a VGA port (located on either the side or at the back of your laptop - it's the port with about 15 holes).
Once connected , you will need to configure how your 2nd monitor will function - as an extended or duplicate monitor. To set this you will need to go to Display Settings > and select your option.
