Question about HP OfficeJet 6110 All-In-One InkJet Printer

2 Answers

After clean reinstall of windows xp sp2, hp6110 software will not install properly

The install seems to proceed ok but clicking on programs then Hewlett Packard reveals only memory disc software installed. I've tried running your HP Aio scrubber program and re-installing to no avail. Help!

    Tom:

Thanks for the reply. No, clicking Start/All Programs/Hewlett Packard only reveals the HP memory disk software and nothing else. Also, there is no icon in the system tray. In addition, each time I reboot now I see quick flashes of the system installer trying to install something (I assume trying to complete the installation of this software) but it's as if something is keeping it from completing the installation. The printer does work however so I suspect a partial installation has occurred.

Yes, I have IE7 installed. After posting this problem, I did discover via web search the conflict between this software and IE7. However, I'm unable to find the appropriate critical update for my HP6110 series software. Do you know if it is available for this equipment?

I have read that I need to un-install IE7 (which apparently reverts me back to IE6), then try to re-install the software. Then reinstall IE7. Is this correct? Any additional advice will be appreciated.

Thanks again for the info. I visited the sites you linked to but found no critical updates to fix the IE7 problem with the 6110xi. I did try to uninstall IE7, and then reinstall the HP software. Unfortunately, I’m left with the same result, a partial installation with no programs showing up under Start/programs and a system installer trying unsuccessfully to install something every time I reboot now. So it looks like the IE7 application was not the reason for my software installation problem. I understand it’s the reason the director no longer starts properly.

For some strange reason the software no longer can completely install on my system. I’m out of ideas and a call to HP indicates they are no longer willing to provide me any support for this product. Any other ideas out there?

Thanks Tom. You’re right, it is installed, at least partially, and I can use the workaround to get to the HP Director. The problem is none of the applications are even listed in the programs menu. So when I click start/all programs/HP like you suggest, there is no “HP Software Update” nor is there any other applications listed other than “Memories disk”. Very weird.

Using “msconfig” I eliminated an HP file in the start up menu that seems to have stopped the other strange problem of the installer trying unsuccessfully to finish the installation at each start up. There no longer appears to be a way for me to set up the fax function but I guess I can live with this unusual situation for a while.

I’ve been a loyal HP printer customer for over 10 years now but I’m quite disappointed with HP’s lack of support on this issue. As a result I’ll never buy another HP printer. I would think that whatever little investment they would need to make to provide a software fix they could justify in revenue from continuing sales of rather expensive ink cartridges not to mention customer loyalty. Instead, I’ll trash (recycle) this thing once the ink cartridges I have are used up and I’ll probably buy a Canon. I don't like things that don't work right.

    Thanks again for your help.

I have a extremely similar problem, albeit with Win XP, and with an HP 1200 All In One. I recently reformatted and reinstalled Win XP, and since then, I cannot get HP Director to work. I can see everything is installed when I look click All Programs, HP, etc, but for some reason, there is a glitch with HP Director. I was able to scan using HP Photo and Imaging Gallery, but when I clicked "scan," it there was a message asking to "Select Source" (either "HP psc 1200 Series 1.0 (32-32) or WIA-hp psc 1200 series 1.0 (32-32)" I chose the "regular" HP PSC series and I was able to scan.
Other issues, have been that I get "there was a problem" messages when switching between my wife and my accounts that have to do with the HP 1200. (Forgot what the message was.)

I just tried to reinstall the HP 1200 software again, and it still doesn't work correctly.

I'm having this problem with my printer and trying to install SP2. I'm wondering if this installation problem is more widespread than just this printer. Is anyone else having a similar issue? The problem described is exactly the same as my situation.

    Tom,

Here is the "one stop shopping" for drivers for your printer.

    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softw...

Here is the HP page for users of IE7, the directions and a link to the critical update for using.

    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/docum...

please let me know how you made out.

Tom, It is probably installed. Since you have IE7. It just doesnt show in the task bar.

I did search and there is no update for your printer.

    Just this workaround.

    Workaround
If you have tried the steps above, and the solution for the product is not yet available, HP advises using the following workaround:

    1. Double-click the HP Director icon to load the program into the memory. You will not see HP Director open at this step. Do not click anything else on the screen until Step 2 is completed

    2. Press the Alt key and the Space bar together, and then select Minimize from the menu that displays in the upper left corner of the window. If necessary, click it again until HP Director minimizes.
The HP Director software now appears as an item on the Task Bar .

    3. Click HP Director on the Task Bar . The software opens and displays normally.

    4. Repeat Steps 1 through 3 every time the HP Director software is used.

      NOTE:
The HP Director window might appear larger than normal, but the software is functional.

    Cause
In October 2006, Microsoft released Internet Explorer 7. The HP Director software that shipped with some HP products introduced between 2002 and 2004 may not be compatible with Internet Explorer 7. The HP Solution Center software, which replaced HP Director software, does not exhibit this issue with Internet Explorer 7.

Pleae try this and let me know how you make out.
    Thanks

Dont know if you tried this...

Use the HP Software Update utility

    1. Click Start , All Programs , and then click HP .

    2. Select HP Software Update , and then accept the update titled Critical update to prevent or resolve an HP Director issue .

      NOTE:
The description for the update is: This update prevents or resolves an issue with HP Director screens which may not function properly after upgrading to Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 .

    3. Follow the instructions that display on the screen to install the update.

Tom, I agree with you on the "dont like things that dont work right" idea. Playing around with computers, and accessories for 17 years told me one thing. Nothing is going to as easy as it seems or should be.

    You are welcome

Errors

solution 1>
CAUSE:
Certain HP services (and associated DLL files) were somehow partially/improperly installed. (Possibly, from a previous failed install?)
The Windows services (files) were:
Pml Driver HPZ12 (C:\Windows\System32\HPZipm12.dll)
Net Driver HPZ12 (C:\Windows\System32\HPZinw12.dll)
The existence of these 2 files in the System32 directory was causing this error in my situation. Somehow, the installation script was not identifying that these files were already installed (or improperly installed) and failing to properly set them to be installed again.
SOLUTION:
Steps:
1) Check to make sure that the 2 Windows services above are not running (or not installed).
2) Rename/delete the 2 associated service DLL files (this will only be possible once the services are stopped)
3) Run the installation again.

complete uninstall printer software from computer.
run uninstall L1 L2 L3 L4(if not an hp computer).
run same uninstall l1l2l3l4 from 7z..folder or hp folder from temp if availalbe.
then clean from add remove programs/program and features.
then clean from cleanup utility all hp pritner related entries.

J6480 fatal error 2753 MSI.dot4wrp during full driver install. I tried uninstalling al related hp drivers, all the HP advice. Disabled firewall, services etc. Do you have a solution that works?

you can try with installing the windows installer 4.5 and then try.. otherwise reinstalling windows might work because the error you are getting is related to installer.. and its a service of windows itself which is responsible for all the software installation..

I'm getting fatal error "MSI.netdevicemanager01" when installing the software for my new HP C309a.

step 1>
remove netdevicemanager.msi from windows cleanup utility.
then try to install software again.

step 2>
remove netdevice manager from registry.
hklm > software > hewlett packard under hewlett packard you will find many {4dfg324.........} entries on left. if you will check each one of these code entries has its discription on right hand side of registry window. each one of these are for scan.msi, solution center.msi.... etc. fine out netdevicemanager.msi adn uninstall that {code} key from hewlett packard. these code keys may also be found in same location under hewlett packard under install key or installed options.
