Getting an e730 error code. machine turns on and runs for a second and then the error comes up. All cables from the motor to pcb look fine.

The E1 Error code appears when the needle bar is up and the sewing machine can't prepare the zigzag motor to start. Unplug the sewing machine and check the wiring connections on the zigzag motor and circuit board A. Replace the fuse on circuit board A if the fuse is blown. Replace circuit board A if it has a burned spot. Replace the zigzag motor if the fuse blows and circuit board A is okay. Possible parts

A: Unplug the sewing machine and reconnect any loose wires on the SSVR PCB assembly and the main PCB assembly. If the wiring connections are okay, replace the SSVR PCB assembly. If the problem persists, replace the main PCB assembly.

The embroidery unit has two pulse motors (pm), x and y. Y goes up and down, x goes left and right. So the machine is not seeing the y pulse motor moving. This could be the motor itself, a bad cable, a circuit board or a mechanical bind.
Probably needs to be serviced.

Have you tried cleaning it? Sometimes a piece of thread or some fuzz gets in between the parts and causes friction. If you have a manual, or can get one online, you should walk through the pages on cleaning and do each and every part of the cleaning. If that doesn't work, call a professional. There are service people who come out to your shop and work on industrial machines. Mine charges $55, plus parts if needed.

it's very possible that the motor went out & would have to be replaced

ours was ndoing same thing. took bottom off and the stepping motor was stuck. moved it manually to get unstuck , oiled it, sewing again!
