With a universal remote control; you can't. If you wish to buy its original remote control, contact the authorized service centre, or authorized dealer to your device brand. They can either give you a genuine remote control to your device, or can direct you, from where can you purchase a suitable one.

Need Closed Captioning

If you have the original remote control, there will be a button marked "CC", and pressing it once, the closed caption funciton will turn OFF, and for an other press, it will re-appear. Now, here you are using a universal remote control. So it will be difficult to make closed caption. Try to enter its function menu by using present remote control, where you can make this funicion OFF, if you could enter into it.

It will be so related to universal remote controls. All buttons won't work with what it should be meant for. The only thing we can try, is to try an other setup code. Try that.

I can't turn the closed captioning OFF on my insgnia flat screen tv model NS-L CD37. i have a universal rca remote & the closed captioning won't go away - HELP !

The problem is that the universal remote is not sending the correct IR signal to your units IR receiver, regaurdless whether or not you turned the captions on with the universal, it is unable to send the signal to turn them off, if you have a menu button on your unit you could try accessing the closed caption option that way, alternatively you can do a system reset, if you can access that menu option, you may need to do a tv retune to get your stations, but the closed captioning should be off. I hope this helps. Good luck.

I have a panasonic TV. direct tv remote for a . while programming the timer, somehow closed captioning got turned on & i after hours of trying to get it turned off, NO LUCK. it's driving me insane!!...

I could do better with a picture of the remote. Closed captioning is usually a multi-press button, that is each press takes you through each of the four types of closed captioning and then off.
You can enable closed captioning on a DVD Recorder, it looks like the TV, but its only on the picture from the DVD Recorder.
If you have a PVR, you could have closed captioning on on that device.
Try tuning off everything else to make sure it IS the TV.
Turn on the menu and find the closed captioning settings and set to OFF.
Press the close captioning button on the remote (If there is one) and press CC repeatedly until it says OFF.
Try and control close captioning, timer and menus with the ORIGINAL remote and not a programmable one.
Programmable remotes are not always completely compatible.

How do I turn off the close captioning on a Sansui TV using an RCA universal remote

codes for sansui from an rca remote are 1191,1208,1282. while pressing and holding the tv key, enter one of these codes. release the tv key and then press on-off key. then press tv key then on-off key again. if set turns on and off, we got the right code. then just use your menu to find closed caption and adjust from caption or text to off.
