I am looking for a manual for my White treadle machine, last patent date 1890. It has a shuttle bobbin. The serial number is 1566383. Thank you.

Have you tried e bay or an antique sewing machine collectors group. I know the type of machine you mean because I use to work on one with an electric motor many years ago.

The hand wheel has become so stiff it wont sew....however, when I put it in bobbin loading position, its normal. Any thoughts?

If your machine was serviced a year ago and you use it extensively, it is probably due for another service. Recommendations are once a year.

Consult your owner's manual. Sounds like it probably needs cleaning and oiling, especially since you said you use it a lot. They do need some periodic TLC to keep them operating well. Mechanical machines, especially, do need maintenance. (You wouldn't run your car without oil.) The fact that the motor is straining but things are not moving is a good indication that it needs some attention. Do NOT run the motor if the machine is frozen--you could burn up the motor or cause other damage!

Just bought the machine...a vintage metal portable one . cant seem to get the needle to move. turns on and wants to run but no movement

Most likely the machine has seized due to lack of regular cleaning and oiling. Take it to a sewing repair shop for a maintenance check. (Avoid running the machine while the motor is unable to move the parts properly. It could damage the motor.)

Serger repair

Lack of use is the worst thing for these machines. The grease turns to glue and freezes up from the lack of movement of any kind. Next time, move the flywheel once a month, whether you need to sew or not. This one may not be worth the repair $'s.

I purchased singer 591 from a commercial manufacturing comp. About 3 years ago for my fiance to use. She doesn't need it anymore so I'll sell it. Thing is I can't turn this machine on to show potential...

A 591 is a flat bed industial machine, that came out with a clutch motor. Unless it has been changed to a servo motor. A clutch motor when turned on will will spool up to speed and you will hear it run. A servo motor makes no sound until you move the foot leaver.
If you hit the switch and nothing happens even when you move the foot feed, check your electical connections.
