Hi, do you know where i can find a manual on the internet for the "Sony MP3 NetWork Walkman, Flash Memory, 512 MB, NW-E405". I bought it from ebay and it came with no manual and i have no idea how to work it or how to download songs on to it. Hope you can help, thank you, Niki

To reformat the NWZ-S545 Walkman follow these steps found on page 92 of the operation guide:
Formatting memory [Format] You can format the built-in flash memory of the player.
If the memory is formatted, all data (songs, videos, photos, etc., including sample data installed at the factory) will be erased. Be sure to verify the data stored in memory prior to formatting, and export any important data to the hard disk of your computer.
Be sure not to initialize (format) the built-in flash memory of the player using Windows Explorer. If you have formatted with Windows Explorer, format again using the player.
This function is only available in the pause mode.
From the [Home] menu, select [Settings] / [Common Settings] / [Format]. [All data including songs will be deleted. Proceed?] appears.
Select [Yes]. [All data will be deleted. Proceed?] appears. To cancel the operation, select [No].
Select [Yes]. When initialization finishes, [Memory formatted.] appears. To cancel the operation, select [No].
This is because the firmware got erased as well.
If you are lucky, your nearest Sony service center will flash your NW with the latest firmware code.
I've been unlucky so far. I have the same problem - and even though i know the solution, i cant do anything!
I did erase all from the device main menue after having copied them to my computer, that cleared the remaining files and recovered part of the memory. Then I did reformat from the same menu and recovered the entire memory! ;)
Hi...I just found help on the sony support page www.sony.com. You can delete songs by going to MY COMPUTER and clicking on the walkman as a storage device and delete files right from there under the music folder. Your MP3 will update when you unplug it from the computer.
