I brought a WGR614 Wireless router and after going through the features i came to know that it doesnt has ADSL support. Presently i have a cable modem which i connected to the WAN Interface of Netgear router. But i am planning to change my connection to a ADSL one with another ISP. If that is the case can i directly connect my Netgear router to ADSL interface with out a ADSL modem to it. If not suggest me appropirate router from Netgear to suite this requirements.

Common with single antenna routers and adsl/router boxes, i use a zoom x6 adsl with wireless and i was having similar problems , it also has a single antenna so i disabled its wireless feature and got a linksys rangebooster router dedicated to my wireless needs, has good range and its durable, Im basically suggesting that you get another wireless router with dual antennae and use that for your wireless needs, hook that up to your DLINK modem via ethernet cable and disable the dlink's wireless feature...Hope this helps..
Hi, taffy_man, the network key is something you configure yourself. If you dont know it you have to RESET the router to the factory defaults. Take a paper clip, or something sharp, and insert it into
the little reset hole in the back of the router, and hold for 15 seconds
or so, that'll reset the router. Wait for all the lights to stop
flashing and remain on, then try to connect to the internet. Or you
could type www.routerlogin.com into your internet address bar and it'll
ask you for the username and password, the defaults are admin and
password.. If that doesnt work do the same thing but first disconnect the power cable. Then while pressing the reset button THEN connect the power cable again but keep the reset button for 10 secons and then go to the routerlogin.com or (192.168.1.1) and do what I wrote above. Then you will have to reconfigure your settings. I hope this helps.
How does she connect to the internet on the other PC? If a cable or ADSL modem is used then this needs to be connected to the WAN port of the router. Other wired systems need then to connect to the routers LAN ports. The wireless connections sound like they are already working connecting ok. Any trouble that might come after connecting in this fashion might come because the router is set to a fixed IP. Router needs to be set to connect via dynamic DCHP option.
It is depend on which type of connection cable your internet service provider. You don't need modem if in your router ADSL port and your ISP gives you ADSL but if on wi fi router there not dsl port and your ISP gives you dsl cable then you need modem.
Your sister was accessing the wireless access point at school which is connected to the Internet/WEB access via a router and the school's broadband service provider.
For you to access the Internet using your wireless adapter on your laptop, you need your own wireless access point and connect it to a broadband ADSL or cable modem and then connect it to an Internet Service Provider. Some Internet Service Providers (cable and ADSL) can supply a combined modem/router/wireless Access point.
If you already have a broadband modem all you need is a wireless access point/router. You only need to configure the wireless access point and your wireless adapter so they will communicate with each other. Folow the instructions in the manuals.
