Could be one of three reasons 1/ if you have an outside aerial possible lightning strike if you have VCR or DVD attached to same aerial and they still work discount this . If they too no longer function strike most likely.
2/ you didn't say TV model it was but could have been a relay station hit by lightning causing a power spike,
3 / Pure coincidence and the Power supply has broken down, if you noticed the tv taking longer to come on each time could be caps.
if you are not completely electronic literate seek the help of a qualified engineer .
