I recently bought a model wd60638 tv which the previous owner had just changed the lamp. I have noticed a black looking smear on the lower right side of the picture screen.
It looks like a tire track. What could be causing this problem and what can I do to fix it? Thanks for your help!

This is a issue with the DMD board it is not using the colors properly. This part runs around $200 plus you might need to pay for installing. When a color wheel is bad you will have different symptoms. I hope this helps :)
This is not a LAMP issue, it is much more serious than that, you need to have it checked by a certified technician, it sounds like the image prossessor
I would first wait untill you get the new lamp to see if this will correct the problem .
What is the Model Number that is printed on back of TV?
What is Name Brand of TV?
It is light engine that is going bad and causing blue haze/ clouds etc. It is an expensive part, and I would recommend a new TV instead of its repair. Thanks.
I was getting a similar blur/blob down one side of the paper (with no discernable print anywhere,) but after removing and emptying the toner collection bottle my printing returned to normal. I am still working on the size mismatch issue, which seems to be prevalent in the 2300DL population.
Most definitely! The lamp is a consumer replaceable item and your owners manual should have instructions on how to complete this task. If you don't have your owners manual and more post your model number and i will get you some instructions on how to replace it!
If you know how to read a service manus then what you are looking for is a possible bad cap on the 200v source feeding the video output collectors or video output IC. That is the first suspect.
