I assume you mean spark plug? Have you got the correct spark plug? Different plugs have different heat ranges , you may have to go to a colder plug. Check the spark plug lead as well. It may be causing a misfire. it could be the fuel you are using. If its a burnt oily plug, You may have a broken piston oil control ring or a faulty valve causing oil to seep into that cylinder. Does it blow smoke when revved up or does it go through a lot of oil between changes. Do a compression test on that cylinder.

SOURCE: battery location for a 2004 suzuki intruder 800

Hi ...... Find where the battery is, under the seat or behind a side panel. Disconnect the black (negative lead usually with a 10mm spanner then disconect the red (positive) lead. The battery will be held in place with a 'rubber' strap or a bracket and depending on type of battery there may be a vent hose from the battery to the lower half of the bike, this just pulls off and remains in place until you replace the battery. Installation is reverse except you connect red (positive) first.
Let us know how you get on.

SOURCE: battery removel for a 2004 suzuki 800 intruder

I know for the models till 2002 where the battery is located in front of the rear wheel.

Place the bike on her side stand
remove the negative battery lead at the left side, just below the transmission tube ( cone ) 10mm socket wrench
On the right side remove the security cap on the positive lead ( cross screwdriver ), then remove the positive lead.
The battery is hold in place with a 'floor plate'. remove both bolts of the floorplate ( on each side ) while holding the palte into place.
gently lower the plate and the battery.

I hope the 2004 model has the same assembly!

Did you sync the two carbs? If not the rear may be getting all the gas from the rear carb and none to the front. Twist throttle engine off and see if front carb cable is pulling the carb open.
Also unscrew the spark plug boot from the front spark plug wire and trim 1/8th inch off the wire and screw the boot back in. The plug wire end may be corroded on that wire.

Here is a schematic, parts list, and prices for your 2004 VL 1500. Friction disks wear out and have to be replaced at regular intervals. Clutch slipping is almost always remedied by replacement of the friction disks.

1996 Suzuki Intruder 1400cc - can't exceed 60mph and runs rough. Think the timings off but I can't find how to check and set it ? 14,000 miles on it.Any possible solutions ?

i thought timing was electronic and when it is off the bike simply will not run---have u looked at air filters--these bikes come stock with a black foam filter which breaks down through time and could either pollute or restrict air flow through carbs. even at only 14000 miles.

Fuse box

You are sitting on the motorcycle, that's what we call right and left. Remove the left side cover, look near the middle and you will see a black rectangular box mounted sideways. It has a phillips head screw in the middle. On the end of the box that faces the front of the bike it should say FUSE (it may have dust over the words). Remove the screw and pop the plastic box off, the fuses are under there - 4 or 5 of them. This is for a 1992 1400cc suzuki intruder, but the designs haven't changed much over the years.
