I have a BreezeAir rooftop evaporative cooler. Suddenly, "High" fan won't start. Pump seems to be running. And the "low fan" and "low fan/pump" combo works fine. But High fan won't start.

SOURCE: master cool not cooling. Outside

I would bet that the problem lies in what you said about the pad. It needs to be well-soaked for the evaporative effect of the unit to do its job.

You give no model, but if you disassemble the unit (only the top panel) at the water distribution tube and expose it you can see what's going on. Water flow will be minimal.

The tube disconnects from the water supply tube at one end.

Disconnect it and, carefully since it's plastic, clear debris out of the distributor.

If it's like mine, it will have a fair amount of scale built-up in it. Once clear, re-assemble and start the unit.

How do I fix an isolating switch that keeps turning off?

If it like a breaker, they sometimes get worn and 'lazy', and will trip over for no reason mainly due to old age and overuse as an on/off switch.

Or the cooler is drawing too much current (amps) for some reason.

Or water is mixing with electricity.

An electrician or HVAC tech can advise.

My Mastercool window evaporative cooler worked fine last summer. As I got it ready today, the pump turns on, OR the fan. If I turn on both, it shuts off. Either works by itself, but not together.

Saw several (but very limited) videos related to this online. All have indicated it as a problem with the control panel itself. I had a technician examine and that also was the conclusion with my own MC window evap not working. Fan would turn on briefly, go from high to mid to low on its own, then shut off. Lights woild also flash as it would toggle from each fan speed aling with oump going on then off on then off like crazy. I plugged the cable for the pump into an extension as indicated by one of thos very limited online videos and that has worked without any problems. My pump has been providing the needed water since doing that for hours. The fan blades however do not have a separate means to run without installing a control for the nlade speed it seems. So a delimna there. Changing the control panel costs about $100 for the part. Maybe the newer model part which runs $49 might work? The very limited videos that do nothing to show the process of how it’s done all show them installing their own control panel whether that is a turn switch or a thermostat system.

Why is the fan only running on low speed?

Hi David. when the air conditioning is energised by the thermostat it should automaticly bump up to high fan speed, if it has been running for a while it ciould be freezing up the evaporator and causing a restricted air flow to come out. you may need to shut the cooling mode off and just leave the fan running for a few hours. hope this helps

Rv heat pump problems

Open circuit or out of range Freeze Sensor. Air conditioner mode of operation will be locked out. Furnace, heat strip, heat pump and fan mode of operation can continue to operate but displays the last temperature set-point. There is a sensor that detects evaporator freezing, it may be bad or your freezing because of low freon levels

When i run my rooftop unit, water runs down the outside of the roof jack and some leaks into the house

Could be that the float is not set properly to where the water shuts off when filled. Make sure that you adjust the float so that water doesn't spill outside the pan when the unit is turned off. But that enough water is available so that your pump has enough water to feed the pads. If you run the pump dry, you may overheat and ruin it.
Also, make sure the ducts are properly sealed so water doesn't leak into the house.

Low voltage wires

I just tested a mastercool control box and found these 4 control wire colors:

Red (24v supply)
White (pump)
Green (low blower)
Yellow (high blower)

The yellow acted as a common for testing when the blower was not on high.

Blower on low just green has 24v.
Blower on high green and yellow have 24v.

If there was a fifth wire added hopefully it would be a ground wire.

There was also the low gauge wires that were black, white, and ground that were not control wires and delivered power to the control box.
