Does it have disc or drum brakes? If it has disc see if the rotor has turned blue from heat most likely stuck caliper. If it has drum brakes remove drum look for pieces springs adjuster e.t.c. if everything intact turn axle see if you hear noise usually a bad or locked up hub bearing will make loud humming noise.

04 durango Steering problem. Turns easy going right. turn hard going left. turning left feels like no power steering. anyone have an idea on what the problem is. Already flushed & put new fluid in...

at this point I would suggest that there is a problem with the directional valves in the box or hose condition as the pressure for the right is the same as for the left
it is not getting that pressure through the valve to assist with the turn
have an accredited steering specialist shop check it out

Remove powersteering speed sensor

Its there for good reason, so you dont spear of the highway at 65 mile an hour, it deliberatly lowers stearing preasure/ assist at higher speeds. and in four wheel steer modles it switches from opposed rear steer to aligned rear steer. so i sugest unless it is broke dont remove it.

What do brakes and power steering have in common on a 2000F550

If you have the hydroboost system..The powersteering pump gives you power assist while you steer..And it also gives you power assist to your brakes..When you have trouble with the power steering pump,,you lose your assist in your steering and your brakes..Youll get a hard brake pedal feel and it will be hard to steer as well

It has a diesel engine so brakes get pressure off of power steering pump.

power assist come from power sterrig pump
brake master cylinder produces brake pressure
if no pwer assist check power sterring fluides and lines
assuming the pump is good do to steering o.k.(not mention)
if no pedal pressure check fluide level top up and depressed sevral time then check for leakage if nothing found may be flowing back to powersterring reservoir check to see if level whent up

I changed powersteering cooler on a 2000 f250. lost alot of the fluid. it seems like air got in the abs system. The abs light is on and when you push on the pedal, you can here the powersteering making...

Hello hummelsautob.
Changing the power steering cooler can't allow air into the brake system. Two different fluid systems.
Your F250 has it's brake assist powered by the power steering pump.
Instead of using a vacuum assist it uses the hydraulic power from the pump.
When refilling your pump you have gotten air mixed in with the fluid. This turns it into a consistency something like whipped cream.
When in this state it isn't effective. Let it sit for a couple hours and let the air bubble out of the fluid. Recheck your level after this as it will drop.
This will make your brakes feel normal again.
Just a note on adding fluid to an empty power steering pump.
Add fluid to the reservoir but not to the top, turn the steering wheel back and forth slowly with the engine off. This will keep the fluid from foaming.

Power steering heavy turning left in isuzu rodeo 4x4

check the power steering pump, if its good than it will be rack and pinion issue. the pump create a high pressure to help assist with steering, and the rack and pinion work like hydraulic cylinder which receive the pressure from the pump and the steering work like control valves. by turn left or right you controling the pressure to make the wheels turn either right or left. check and see if you have any leaks.

Powersteering will turn right but no left turning power

You have a failed steering rack, this problem is caused by a defective seal inside the steering rack, you need to replace it, make sure you flush the PS system, as it will most likely be full of debris from the failed rack unit.
