It will burn into the screen overtime. The Akai units have a resistor on the address board that feeds the PDP that usually has a crack in the solder on one or both ends of it. There are about 4 address boards that are right below the panel itself and the suspect one is the board right below the line that is appearing. Have someone with solder skills repair it.

You have the CC (closed captioning) turned on and it is set to text mode. Look for a button on your remote labeled "CC" or go into your TV menu and make sure the captioning selection is set to "off".

Versed, you have to open the back panel (cover) to access the lamp. replacing is easy as soon as you can see it. loosen the mounting bolt and pull to unplug the lamp from the SMPS Lamp power supply. Thats it.

This is a hard one without seeing the actual defect. It sounds like there is a problem with the processing board. It could be as simple as a poor connection inside at a cable connection. The signal levels inside these sets is very low and any dirt or dust in the connection area can cause "noise" on the digital data lines that can show up in odd ways like you described. If the set is no longer under warranty, you can try reseating all of the cables and connectors inside the set. That may resolve the problem.
