What kind of router do you have? Generally you can connect to the router through a web interface. You can find the IP address of the router using the steps below (assuming that you're running Windows)..
1) Click Start 2) Click Run 3) Type in 'cmd' 4) Click OK 5) In the command prompt window type in 'ipconfig' 6) Hit Enter
You will then see the default gateway. Open your web browser and go to http://the.default.gateway.address (replacing the.default.gateway.address with the IP address shown from the ipconfig command). You should then be prompted for a username and password. Most routers by default have a username of 'admin' and a password of 'admin'. If your able to login with that you should have a wireless option or wireless security option where you can go to retrieve the key or at least change it.
By Default the Gateway Address is 192.168.1.1, but it might be different for your computer. To check what the Gateway Address is:
Click on Start and type in CMD
In the Command Prompt, type in IPCONFIG
Write down the Gateway Address.
Open up your internet browser and type in the Gateway Address.
This will bring up the Linksys Control Panel. By Default, your login credentials should be:
Username: admin Password: admin
Although on older models the Username is usually left blank. If these login credentials don't work, you may have changed it. If you aren't sure of your Username/Password, look on the back of your router for a small pinhole. Push and hold the reset button for about thirty seconds to reset your router to factory default settings. This WILL reset your internet connection so you will need to set that up again. Once you have logged into your router's Control Panel, click on Wireless, then the sub-menu that says Wireless Security. In here, you can select to use WPA2 Personal or WEP Personal. Once you set this up, it will likely reset your router. When you reconnect it will ask you for the security key you just typed in. If this solution doesn't do it for you, please return to this page and submit a response. I will be happy to assist you further.
For that you need to access your wireless router.

Hello,
You need to login into the Router's control panel to be able to change the settings. For the link, this is usually the gateway address of your computer. If you are using windows, click Start, on the RUN dialog box, type cmd. It will open a new window and you need to type this:
ipconfig
Note the Gateway info. Open up a new browser window and then input the gateway address. Ex.
http://192.168.0.1
If it asks for a username password and this has been never set, you can use the default combinations. Try to type admin and leave blank for the password field. Try admin and admin for both the username and password. You may refer to the user manual for the default password as well.
Once logged in, you can browse the interface and then check for the security settings.
First connect your router to computer with ethernet cable. Then you can access it with following link http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or blank or "password" then go to wi fi security set your WEP code it is your security key to connect wi fi network. Change it and then save settings and restart router. Let me know if you need more assistance. Thanks
ManualThis is a discontinued item.
Your passwords can be
UN - admin
PW - (none), admin, or public
Right click on your network icon for your dlink and click Status
click support and whatever your gateway is put http://*gateway* in your browser and log in. That is where I WOULD CHANGE YOUR password and setup your security.

To access the router's set up page, you have to get the default gateway you see under status of your local area conection then type it on the address bar. You will then get a username/password screen, enter ur password and it will redirect you to the set up page where you can enable wireless security.
