How do I fix my Vizio Television after a thunderstorm?

A recent thunderstorm knocked out our cable box and the power to our TV. There is currently no standby light so I went ahead and bought a new power board from shopjimmy. After installing the new power board, I still have no power to the TV. Should I just invest in a new TV or is there another option I have?

You TV was victim of power surge. You should take it to a qualified repair service to diagnose it, it it it can be repaired and if it's worth.
Curren flat panel electronic TVs are particularly sensible to power surge so it might be a good investment to use spike protectors.

My VIZIO VIM65C1 TV has sound with black screen. Any ideas what I can do to fix it?

Turn off the television and unplug it.
Press and hold the TV's power button for 30 seconds.
Release the power button and plug the television back in.
If you're trying to test the picture from a device like a cable box, swap it out for a different device.

I have vizio sv470m and all of the 4 hdmi plugs stopped working one at a time.

Power doesn't have to be knocked out for a cable box to destroy the HDMI ports on a TV. Thunder miles away will put voltage spikes on the cable system which in turn trashes the main board in the TV. You can get parts for your TV here: TV Parts Universal TV Stands DLP Chips ShopJimmy

Vizio TV with comcast cable box has always worked fine; tonight getting pic. but just the hum of white noise/static instead of any volume... The Xbox 360 has volume/sound when that is turned on, but...

comcast boxes can either have component cables or hdmi. sometimes the red and white cables come loose. check the cables on the TV and the box. If you are using hdmi, let me know and I'll walk you through some steps...

How do you set our vizio to 1080p it is currently set at 480p

You really don't think you set the TV for this, if the TV supports 1080p and the device was 1080 capabilities then the TV will recognize this. If you using a cable box make sure your using the HDMI port on the cable box. I have seen in the past cable companies just using the component ports.

No signal...deep sleep

Go to main menu, turn off sleep mode, then find the "autoprogram" feature and select it.
THis will program all available channels, just make sure you tv is set to AIR for regular tv and CATV if you have cable.

The thunderstorm may have reset the television. Hopefully there is no damage done to the tuner
