How do I replace the drain trap after cleaning then damaging it?

I received an E04 error message and my washer wouldn't drain so I cleared the drain trap but had trouble reinsurting it snuggly. My husband then broke the black cap trying to tighten it with pliers.

Hi We have a Kenmore HE2 plus front load washer. Its not too old but it came with the house. Recently we have been getting error messages 5D, F21, and F23. I pulled off the front panel and cleaned out...

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

F21 error is displayed when the washer is unable to drain, press PAUSE/CANCEL button twice to clear the display. After this please check the drain hose and drain pump filter for any blockages and make sure it is not clogged with foreign particles. You can also check the drain pump to verify that its working. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

BOSCH WFMC3200 Washer - Receiving E04 error and manual indicates clearing drain hose and pipe. How do I remove the cover on lower front of machine?

there is small hole in the cover you need to push a small screwdriver or ice pick works in the hole and then turn clockwise till it comes off.
But there will be some water come out so if you have a wet dry shop vac then use it on the end of the drain hose to remove most of the water then keep it handy when you take the plug out there will still be some water come out and you should be able to clena out the trap area

Kenmore Elite error message F 02

Here is what the manufacture says about F02 - Below this are my comments

If the drain time exceeds eight minutes, the water valves are
turned off and “F/02” is flashed.

Press PAUSE/CANCEL two times to clear the display.
NOTE: After four minutes the “Sud” error will be displayed,
then four minutes later the “F/02” error code will be
displayed.

Possible Causes / Procedure
1. Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged
or kinked.
2. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
3. Check the electrical connections at the pump and make
sure the pump is running.
4. Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects.
5. Plug in2_bing.gif washer or reconnect power.
6. If the above does not correct the problem, go to step 7.
7. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
8. Replace the pump.

Phil's comments---->
If you washed a rug with a rubber backing or small articles like baby socks you may have a plugged up pump. To access the pump lay on the floor and remove the 3 screws holding the lower panel of washer on. Pull down and out on the panel to remove. Lay out a lot of towels under the unit, I mean a lot... Look in the center for a white cap about the diameter of a large cup, it will have a handle on it to turn, turn this left(counter clockwise) to unscrew. This will unscrew and pull out, but be careful when it comes out so does all the water. Clean out the trap that is in your hand and anything you see or feel in the sump area the trap came from. Reassemble and test. If this does not work you will more than likely need a new drain pump, that is the component on the right of that trap you just cleaned out.

Water won't drain, error message: E20

error code E20 means that the coin trap/drain pump hose needs cleaned out.It can be done by the owner with a friend helping.

1. Unplug the unit.
2. Tilt the unit up to where the front feet are in the air and the back feet are still on the ground. Please make sure the unit is propped up safely.Or you can lay the unit on its back side.
3. Now that the unit is propped up look inside the hole on the bottom of the unit - on the bottom right hand side there is a black looking accordion thing. This is the coin trap.
4. Clean the drum out with as much water as possible and have towels ready. The next step you will have the remaining water come out.
5. At the top of the coin trap where it is attached to the drum is a silver spring with a silver screw. Loosen the screw and wiggle the coin trap down from the drum.
5. Reach inside the coin trap and clean what is inside of it out.
6. Put the unit back together following the same steps backwards

Of course, if your washer is setting on top a drawer/pedestal then you will need to take out the screws that connect the two and then you can lay the washer down on its back onto the pedestal

Need to know how to clean lint trap and where is lint trap located on the Kenmore He3 washer

The only trap on a Kenmore Elite HE3 is in the drain pump. The following link explains how to access and clean it out:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385844-checking_drain_pump_kenmore_elite_front

Read through the link provided and let me know if you have any questions. I personally own one of these washers and have repaired them many times. If you are experiencing drain problems, the problem will most commonly be attributed to the drain pump trap becoming clogged with debris. There's usually an error code associated with this problem of "F02". If you attempt to clean the drain pump and you discover the pump to be clear, check the drain lines (especially the line running from the bottom of the wash tub to the inlet side of the pump). If all these preliminary checks don't solve the problem, the manufacturer recommends replacing the drain pump.

If this is not what you were talking about, please post back and elaborate a bit more so I can understand the problem you are having. I hope this helps you.

Washer stopped. E04 beeps but won't spin or continue any cycle. Have shut off machine but only makes a strange sound.

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 st1\:*{behavior:url(#ieooui) } /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} I had the same problem. Error code E04 with a full load of laundry and water in the washer. Unplug the power to the washer. Take off the round cover plate in the front right. Mine did not turn clockwise or counter-clockwise, it was completely stuck. Used two flat tip screwdrivers to carefully pry it away, without damaging anything. The plate is a hard plastic but just pliable enough.
Once removed, you will see the pump (img_0001). Unscrew the pump cover slowly. There will be water coming out, so be prepared. In my case we had a LOT of water, so I drained it gradually into a couple of large garbage bags. Wrap the bag opening tightly against the pump surround to minimize spills (img_0002).
Once all the water is gone, remove the pump cover and clean out any items trapped in the pump and in the drain from the drum (img_0003). In my case it was some loose change and a small ColorCatcher sheet. Reassemble the pump and you're done.

Washer will not leave the drain cycle

Press PAUSE/CANCEL twice to clear the display then
  • Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked.
  • Check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure the pump is running.
  • Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects.
  • If the above does not correct the problem, replace the pump.

It's because of a Long Drain condition. If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes, the water valves are turned off the code is flashed.
But Note: After 4 minutes the "Sud" error is usually displayed, then 4 minutes later the error code is displayed.

E04 Error Message

Here's what i found. I was able to clear the message by opening and closing and ejecting the cassette. I also had to play with the battery at the same time. Keeping the cassette door open and then pulling out the battery. After is did this a couple of times i got the message to clear. I too haven't used my camcorder for some time and now that the error message has cleared the camcorder tells me that i need to clean the heads. Hope this helps. Below is the message i found that pointed me toward ejecting the cassette. Good Luck, i'm off to buy a tape head cleaning cassette. An error indication (E03 or E04) appears. - (E03 or E04 UNIT IN SAFEGUARD MODE REMOVE AND REATTACH BATTERY) This massage a malfunction of some kind has occurred. In this case the camcorder's functions become unusable. - Eject the cassette once and re-insert it, then check if the indication clears. When it does, you can resume using the camcorder. If the indication remains, consult your nearest JVC dealer or service center

E04

Perhaps try opening the round panel on the front of the machine at the bottom and cleaning that hose...good luck because it might be messy.
