That may be called the turntable coupler or turntable support or roller ring assembly.

There is no mention of lamp replacement in the manual. You should be able to access the lamp IF you unplug the oven and let is sit for 30 minutes or longer before removing the screws. Since there is no info on the lamp, it may be of a type that is not user replaceable (simple push in or screw in type), or is not readily available.

You may end up having to contact Samsung (number is in the manual) to obtain the lamp - or they may not wish to sell to the consumer - which would require a service man perform the work. You'll also need to buy the tool to remove the screws, too. Maybe you can live without the light.. or get it fixed or replaced entirely. A service call may cost more than it's worth.

PMG!!! I called GE and was told that changing the light bulb is not a consumer replaceable part!!! Are you kidding me!! She told me I had to have a GE tech come out. Makes you want to buy GE appliacnces, right!

Sounds like a magnetron failure. This is the device that generates the microwaves that heat the food. It is connected to a lot of high voltage components and if you don't know what you are doing can really hurt yourself. Typically these parts short out and it needs to be replaced. The cost of replacing the magnetron come close to the cost of a new oven. Not usually cost effective to repair.

March 2012 - GE does not support customers

I have GE microwave with a failed Magnetron. It is emitting large sparks. Upon removing the magnetron I found that the sparks left residue where they are leaking from the cylindrical shaped piece on the end of the Magnetron.

The Magnetron is under warranty.

BUT

GE WILL NOT HONOR THEIR WARRANTY AND SEND A MAGNETRON.
GE HAS SENT OUT HUNDREDS OF MAGNETRONS TO CUSTOMERS - SEARCH ONLINE TO SEE THIS IS TRUE.

I called GE PARTS, GE support and GE consumer relations department. They changed their policy two weeks ago and require a service technician to replace the part.

THE COST IS $220 FOR THE REPAIR TECHNICIAN.

Since I already removed the part the service technician would have to put in 3 screws and plug in the cable...FOR $220...I PAID $229 FOR THE MICROWAVE NEW!!!!

DO NOT BUY GE.
DO NOT BUY GENERAL ELECTRIC.

GE DOES NOT SUPPORT IT'S WARRANTIES UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY THE SAME AMOUNT THAT YOU PAID FOR THE PRODUCT!!
