SOURCE: Lever on taoster will not stay down

Black & Decker T4050 OptiToast 4-Slice and it will not stay down and heat either. However you can hold it down and then it will heat. I apparently has an electromagnet that is supposed to hold it down and it's not working. Any Suggestions?

Can't take top off Singer 6215c, because levers on the front and bobbin winder on the top are in the way. What am I not seeing to do?

Rest assured, there IS a way to get it off! However, in your case, I would purchase the service manual for your machine; it will describe how to get the sides and top off, and in which order they should go. For instance, It's possible that before you take off the top, you have to take off one side. You can purchase it for a nominal sum; http://www.sewingpartsonline.com has a great many of these service manuals, and if they don't have it, they can order it for you.

Ge potscrubber 700 dishwasher - the soap dispenser cover is locked and will not open. I have run the dishwasher several times and tried to force it but it will not budge. any suggestions?

Soap dispenser cover will not open until front knob is at 4:30 or 5 o'clock. Turn knob to 5 o'clock and jiggle dispenser cover. If cover still does not open, is detergent caked such that door won't open? If yes, remove caked detergent. If no, disconnect power at breaker. GE repair manual says to remove screws for inner door panel and inspect detergent dispenser mechanism with lever and trip lever for broken or binding parts.

I have a sony kdf50e2000, just replaced the lamp. now it won't turn on, I have reseated the lamp and cover door numerous times but the standby lamp keeps blinking 3 times. Any suggestions I...

Remove the lamp door and examine it edgewise: if the door has been warped by the heat the peg on the back of the door will not engage the blue safety lever.

What I do with the door removed is engage the lever with something plastic or not metal and try to turn the set on; if it comes on the door is your problem and DO NOT LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE LAMP OR REPLACE THE OUTER SHIELD AND OPERATE THE SET THAT WAY.

Three blinks usually means door not secured etc.

The safety lever is to prevent the set from being operated with the door removed.

Before you rate this information let me know if you have questions and what you find.

Toast will not stay down in toaster when lever is depressed, actually lever will not stay down. how to fix it?

Most times this is caused by a build up of crumbs in the bottom of the toaster. There is a small electo magnet that holds the lever down, if it gets covered in crumbs it won't work. Take it outside turn it upside down and bang the heck out of it till everything comes out. If this does not work then check and make sure the magnet is still attatched inside. Other than that, this toaster gets terrible reviews from folks with issues just like yours. I can only assume the electronics are failing on these units far to quickly. It can be repaired if yuou send it in to the manufacture but that is really not economical. I hope the upside down banging cures the problem.

My toast lever wont stay down-I've loosened the cover and cleaned as best I can. How can I take the lever off so that I can fully remove the cover? It is a Cuisinart two slice black toaster.

On most appliances the knob on the lever pulls off and the cover is then lifted off the lever. Check that the bi-metal strip that latches the toast ejector has not been bent or damaged. Once you have the cover you will be able ot see the whole mechanism.

Russell Hobbs 9209 Classic toaster

I had the same problem which I managed to solve. The electro magnet that holds the toast lever down takes its power from a poor joint.
Remove the bottom of the toaster. You will see 2 wires encased in a heat proof sleeving going from the small circuit board. One of these wires dissapears up inside the heating element board about mid way along the board. You will now have to remove the metal covering by twisting 6 tabs. This is best done by taking off the black knobs you use to push the toast down - if you can - I couldnt, so I had to use long nosed pliers to bend the tabs and then with difficulty, remove the metal cover. YOu should now see the terminal that the wire is connected to. It is this connection that fails either between the wire and coonnector or connector and heatin element on the reverse side. I put a small bolt through the hole and used a nut to tighten the pressed fitting. I didnt use solder because I thought that it would just melt!
Anyway, my toaster worked after that. Russell Hobbs failed to give me any advice at all.
I hope that has helped.

My Krups model 288 toaster won't always latch down.

You can fix this yourself by following these instructions. Unplug your toaster before proceeding!... Clean the toaster first. Turn the toaster upside-down and shake out the crumbs. Remove and clean the bottom crumb tray. 1. Unscrew the four Phillips head screws located in the corners of the bottom base. Remove the screws completely if possible. Do this over a cloth or newspaper - that way a stuck screw won't get lost if it falls out later. 2. With the toaster right-side up, pull off the wide toast lever knob. Do not remove the round adjustment knob (it will not come off from the outside) but make a mental note of what number (1-7) is showing at the knob's adjustment mark. 3. Carefully pry up the end of the case cover with the knob on it (don't pull on the "stop" button). When the knob's plastic shaft is clear of the circuit board, gently pull off the cover. 4. On the inner part of the circuit board you will see a black plastic "cam" surrounded by two sets of electrical contacts. Rotate the cam to open the contact points if necessary. Insert a thin nail file between the points and rotate the cam to trap the file between them, then scrub back and forth several times to clean the contact points. Do this for each contact on both sides of the cam. When finished, rotate the cam clockwise so it is all the way back down to it's original position. 5. To make re-assembly easier, remove the round adjustment knob from the cover by depressing the half-round shaft flanges inside the cover with your fingernails. 6. Re-assemble the toaster by reversing steps 1 & 2. Replace the knobs, making sure that the round one is in the same position you noted earlier before you push it all the way down.
