It may be a problem with the adapter's driver. Try updating the driver or rolling back to a previous driver version.

Check if you can connect to the internet when hooked directly to the modem. If your connection works fine through the modem, then your router needs to be reconfigured.

Don't plug the adaptor in until the pc has fully booted an easy solution.

You see what is happening is that the signals are hetrodyning together and cancelling out, so it all just messes up because they are on the same basic frequency of 2.4GHz. Either make the antenna(s) Directional,or Try changing channels on either one, or both, if you can set channels as far apart as you can.

It appears the connection between the Linksys and the modem is not working.
Try a different LAN cable.
Check the LAN cable from the modem to the Linksys, it should be connected to the WAN/Internet port on the Linksys.

Linksys wireless firmware is know for it slow connection issue. I have one and my lan speed was double then my wireless speed. I put the third pary firmware from www.dd-wrt.com website and now my wireless and lan speeds are the same.

sounds like your internet access is the slow down, not the router. You don't say if you have DSL or CABLE or what.  I'd check there. Make sure you are getting a strong signal.  Hook up one system directly, without the router and check the speed.
