TV Won't Stay On...

My Mitsubishi projection TV worked fine, then shut off and when I attempt to turn it on, the light comes on for about 3 seconds and shuts itself off, without sound or picture. I tried pressing the menu and input buttons simultaneously but nothing changed. Please advise...

I have the same trouble & error code on a Mitsubishi VS-50111. The WT-42311 is a model number that is mentioned on my owner's manual so I'm hoping the solution is the same. Some have said the Capacitors are bad & others say it is the Convergence Chips (IC's) that are shot. I'm so confused!!

Ditto: turn on, power light comes for 2 seconds and goes off. Tv is 5yrs 4months old. Also...About 2 months ago, once in a while the colors split so bad you see 3 people instead of one [all in seperate colors], turn off tv and back on then picture is OK.

Having the same issue, but I'm having difficulty finding the power supply board or the pico fuses without a service manual.

I have the exact same problem. Is there a manual to show me how to locate and fix the bad component?

What all will I need for tools and how difficult will it be to fix myself?

  • digital-grl Oct 06, 2008

This is so crazy! My WT-A42 does the same problem. Since I'm not a repair-type person, I hope to find someone to fix it without costing too much.

    Thanks for all the info!

Same problem as described above. The first time the repairman replaced the "voltage regulator" for $170 and then had the same problem again in 2 months. He came back in and "adjusted" the voltage regulator. 6 months later I had the same problem....I'm calling a new repairman.

I have a Sharp television. I've had it for 14 years with no problem what so ever. For the past week I have been experiencing a problem with the inputs. The tv will always be on input 1(one), but it has been flipping through all the inputs and is getting to be very annoying. Whether we watch tv live or if we are watching Tvo, it still does it. I called Direct TV and they said it wasn't their problem, and that it was the tv itself. I've checked all the cables in the back of the tv and they are all secure. What can be causing this problem?

Same problem, same solution. Small green pico fuse on the power supply board. There is a sticker inside the back cover with the layout of the fuses on the board. Check them all, one of the 5A125V is bad on mine. I have the board out, now I just need to locate a replacement and someone with the skill to solder it in for me. Thanks for the help...hopefully this saves me thousands on a new TV. I bought this TV five years and one month ago to the day. Guess when the extended warranty ran out...a month ago today.

Small green pico fuses repair turn off problem

Posted on May 10, 2008

I found a blown fuse in the circuit board 5amp125volt.
replaced and the tv works as it did before.

Mine did the exact same thing after I turned it on and turned off too fast. Checked all the fuses with a multimeter and found a bad one. soldered in a new one and works perfect now. $7 fix with a few minutes of my labor. I got lucky that it wasn't something particular that blew the fuse but that is a good place to start

Hope this helps.

I have a Mitsubishi TV model WS-48511 it was working fine, I shut it off came back a few hours later & when I turn it on the green light will come on for about 3 seconds but turns back off. What can I...

Unplug it from the wall for about 5 minutes.
with it unplugged, Press and hold the power button for around 30 seconds.
This should discharge the unit and allow it to come back on.

Mitsubishi WS-65313 65 in. TV will no longer power up.

You should call a good TV Tech. This problem cannot be solved by a consumer. The one thing you might try is to unplug it from the wall for a few minutes and then try it again.

TV shuts itself off after a couple minutes of being on.

One must be very careful of the quality of the replacement lamp. Many of the cheap 'deals' on the web for replacement lamps are substandard. I always recommend that replacement bulbs be the original manufacturers bulb.
