Steam stays on all the time - Irons

The valve is jammed

so... take a calgon tab
and make up some boiling water

add the boiling water to fill the iron half way
now make up a paste with the calgon tab {a bit of like 1/8th}

add this paste to the water chanel of the iron
and then using a fresh boiling water
water it in
to fill the iron
let it sit for two mins
then exercise the valves for steam and water
and tip the iron front and back
let it sit a further 2 mins
NOW
plug in the iron and set it cotton number 1 {40deg usually}
let it sit and hiss
and steam it thru again exercise the valves
youll also need to make sure the holes on the base of it are clear

you can also leave the botton of the iron in a small tray of a calgon tab

this disolves all the lime scale and will bring perhaps
a sad iron or etc back to life again

after a good rinse thru reuse this treatment every few months
