It does have a choke but its an automatic choke that works off the heat from the exhaust. More likely a dirty carb as the briggs auto choke system is very good, unlike the honda auto choke system !!!

If it is system I am thinking about it does have an automated choke system and that it is out of adjustment

Testimonial: "Thanks for the response, as stated before there is no primer bulb or choke. I have repaired the carb and it starting on first pull again."

I've had 2 technicians start (one pull) my new Echo ES250 shred n vac and I have not been able to do so.

Try 1/2 choke and part throttle with trigger, after several pumps of the primmer bulb.....You have to allow some air to the engine when creating a rich start condition.........

4 lawn mowers same problem wont start until I prime the by hand. Briggs Stratton 917.387500/ 12AV566n01124987/20043/SDSP2245D Will the same primer bulb fit the above mowers.

If its identical it should work ,if not take the old one to a mower shop,to get correct one and make sure the choke is going right on when the cable is in choke position.

Help, need to start a briggs and stratton 158 mower, and can't. not mine, so not sure of its quirks, also not a lawnmower person, use a brushcutter normally. lawnmower in good condition, got oil and...

after trying to start it a bunch of times, take spark plug out and see if it's wet with gas.

All mowers start with throttle High and with the choke on OR if it has a primer bulb, you have to prime it until you see gas in the bulb

Otmail.com Buble thing at carburator has stuck in and will not come back out any advice

I believe that your question is in reference to the primer button on your carburator. If this is so and your button is pushed in then you will have to change the button. Take a pair of needlenose pliers and pull out the damaged primer bulb. Then go in with a pick tool and pull out the ring that is seated in the carburator at the bottom of the primer bulb. With the old primer bulb out of the carburator you can now install the new primer bulb. Put new primer bulb into place and with a dull punch slowly and very carefully seat the new primer bulb. This should put you back in business again. GOOD LUCK.

I have just purchase a Sears 22 Lawm mower, with a Briggs and Stratton 158cc engine. I prime the motor it act like it wants to start but then dies. I pull it and try to strat it several more times and it...

The procedure for starting an engine is as follows:
  • Check that you have the throttle in the start position and/or on high revs with choke on
  • Prime the engine by pushing the button about 5 times
  • Pull out the cord until you meet resistance. Then let the cord go fully back into the engine and then pull the cord out sharply. Repeat this until the engine starts but not more than a few times.
  • If the engine doesn't start, try pressing the primer button another few times then try to pull start the engine
  • If the engine doesn't start after a few pulls it may have flooded so leave it for a few minutes before pulling the starter rope

I can't start my powerwasher. Where is the choke?

This Power washer has a 3.75 hp Briggs and Stratton Engine. It does not have a choke but does have a primer bulb. You must depress the primer bulb at least 3 times to start the engine. The primer bulb is on the side of the carb. It can be black or red. If your still unable to locate the primer bulb please provide your ENGINE model number and I will provide you a link to a diagram for the location of the primer bulb.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Need to replace primer bulb on a briggs & stratton lawn mower

pull the bulb and retaing ring any way you can. don't try ti save them. you get a new retaing ring with the bulb. put the new bulb in then work the retaing ring in with a screw driver, clean everything behind the bulb before you put the new on in.

Red end cap on new motor!

pull the cap off and look there,it is probably covering an adjustment screw for carb.
