Software to scan

If you allowed the device driver to auto-install in Windows 7 for example, only the printer driver will install and not the software required for scanning. You need to download and install the complete full feature software package.
You need the AIO_CDB_NonNet_Full_Win_WW_130_141.exe file from the link below:

With some of the HP all-In-One printers, the scan function will only work once the printer software (not just the drivers) have been installed on the connect machine.

Make sure you have the correct software installed for printer, will only work with its orig software that came with it.

You can scan with out any HP software also using the below steps.
Make sure that the printer is connected to the computer perform the following steps;

Steps for scanning in Windows XP: 1. Click the Start (Windows) icon.
2. Click All Programs.
3. Click Accessories.
4. Click Paint.
5. Click File and then click From Scanner or Camera.
6. Click Scan.
Steps for scanning in Windows vista:

1.Click the Start (Windows) icon.
2. Click All Programs.
3. Click Windows Photo Gallery.
4. Click File and then click Import From Scanner or Camera.
5. Click Import.
6. Click Scan.

Please Install Scanner Software. then only you can able to scan pictures

Reinstall it and scan...this may give a solution to yr pbm...

Uninstall all of the all-in-one software. Go to www.hp.com and search for your model and download (free) the latest software and reinstall.

try to uninstall & reinstall the printer application software... also follow instructions while reinstalling the software.. keep the priner cable disconnected till the time the installation software dosen't ask you to connect the printer....

I just installed the software and am now scanning problem-free.

i have a Vista system and an old hp 1315. the CD driver that came with it includes some very useful software that cannot be installed in my laptop. according to the hp website, that's because Vista comes with a compatible software for my hardware. checking Windows Help & Support gave me this solution:

Open to Windows Photo Gallery, click File then click Import from Camera or Scanner.

i did exactly that and it worked!
