Your probable problem is either the power supply or function board. The fact that the lights go out usually means it is not a keyboard problem. Does the machine beep and if so, how many times?

Your problem might be a bad keyboard. The service manual says to check the ends of the cables that attach the keyboard to the system board. You may need a technician to swap a known good keyboard with yours and see if that is the problem. If it doesn't work then you will need a new system board.
Sorry it took a while to respond. The keyboard is failing due to age, very common problem. I get refurbished keyboards from EBM, ph.# 800-832-6522. that should take care of the problem.
It sounds like a bad keyboard, you can try my tip under WW1000 or contact Geo. Beyers Co. for a keyboard rebuild @ 800-392-8085 tell them O'Reilly sent you.
