This might be the belt: https://www.geapplianceparts.com/store/parts/spec/WH08X10024

According to the following site, you left a number out of the model number:

My deck belt broke and I am unable to measure it to buy a new one. How many inches is the deck belt for a craftsman 1000?

If you don't have the broken belt, and you don't want to buy 2 or 3 wrong belts. Go to a lawn and garden supply company or sears and buy it by model number of the mower. Then when you have the new one, find the numbers on the belt, and write them down. http://www.searspartsdirect.com or

I have a 1995 murray lawntractor model#42816B.The deck belt broke and need a routing diagram on which the way the belt goes on.Bought new idler and belt. The belt length is 35x75a.Is this the correct size?

Have you tried going to www.murray.com and then find a dealer. Call them and ask if it is right belt. If you have the old belt there should be number stamped on it. If you have the number and you can't find a belt try a mower repair shop and they can cross ref it and get new number if it has been changed.
Then when you put the new belt on make sure you have the right belt and then it should be fairly easy to route the belt if you put the back of the belt (flat side) up against the larger in height idler pulleys and the smaller (v) in the smaller pulleys. The belt should be snug when on properly.

let me know if this helps.
Thanks
