How do you reverse the door on a swam frige freezer

'swam' or 'Swan', 'frige' or 'fridge'?

Perhaps it is South African, we have viewers over there. They all work the same, remove plastic covers, remove screws, then remove plugs from the other side and swap over.

I removed the freezer door and now I cannot reattach it.

Generally you just reverse the removal process. Place hole in door bottom over lower door hinge pin and place door in closed position. Insert top hinge in top hole---align hinge screw holes with holes in fridge cabinet and insert screws. Not sure what is giving you the problem. If you need more help post back brand and full model number so I can look it up.

How do i fit the door on the other side

Hi Mel, I looked for a manual for your fridge but couldnt find one. These jobs are pretty similar - regardless of brand however.

You should first deremine if your model does indeed support swapping the hardware to allow the door to swing the other direction. Look at the points of attachement for the handles and hinges on the door and the fridge body itself. There are typoically pre drilled holes for fasteners in these parts on the opposite side - but have plugs or covers over them to minimize their appearance. if you have these tell tale indicators present - you're good to go.

The process will require removal of all products stored on the doors of the fridge and freezer compartments, and placing in a thermal container or cooler.

The hinges consist of one at the top, one at the bottom and usually one in the center that engages both the bottom of the top door and the top of the bottom door.

At the top, you may need to remove a bezel or cover to gain access to the fastener head(s). Many times these are hex head screws, but could be any type really. Two, 3 or more fasteners may be used to hold the top inge to the fridge. Once the screws are loosened / removed the tops door will shift - so be ready for it (or have afriend support it while you remove the fasteners). The doors are surprisingly light - a thein meta outer jacket wrapped around a lightweight drame, lots of insulation and plastic is it really is. Lift the top door up and away from the center hinge pin. You may find one or more spacers or washers made of metal or more likely - nylon. Remove these and set aside as they will likely be needed to put back in place when the hardware is reversed.

The lower door is being help by the center and bottom hinges now. You should have access to fasteners holding the center hinge to the fridge. Support the bottom door as you loosened and remove the fasteners on the center hinge If you are unable to access the fasteners of the center hinge, try the fasteners on bottom hinge instead. If you get the center hinge loosened, you should be able to lift on the door slightly to roll it out from between the center and bottom hinge. otherwise, when the bottom hinge fasteners are removed, the door will drop and be free from the fridge. Look for similar spacers or washers on the bottom hinge pin that yuou found on the top of the center hinge pin and save them.

Remove any remaining hinges from the fridge.

Remove door handle hardware from both doors and remove plugs / covers from the opposite side of the doors. Secure the door handles to the otherside and insert the plugs and covers into the holes that had previously been used to fasten the handles.

Remove the covers / plugs from the fridge and insert into the opening that previously fastened the hinges to the fridge. Swap any covers / plugs on the doors for hinges if needed.

Reinstall the hinges and doors in reverse order of removal. If the bottom hinge was last to come off - it is first to go on. Reinstall the spacers on the pin. The bottom door is placed on the bottom hinge pin. Place the center hinge pin into the recess of the top door and secure the hinge to the fridge. Place the spacers over the top pin of the center hinge. Place the top door recess over the center hing pin. Align the top hinge with the recess on the top of the door and insret fasteners through top hinge into fridge. Hand tighten all fasteners. Operate doors and check for rubbing, binding, etc. Adjust number and location of spacers as needed to allow doors to swing without scraping or binding. Once satisifed, tighten all fasteners. Adjust feet of fridge as need to allow the doors to close by themselves if left open by accident. Restock fridge & freezer.

Done!

Most have holes for the hinge on
each side at top and bottom. If yours dose then take off both hinges
and flip them over to the other side. Use the plugs from the new side
to plug the holes on old hinge site. Once you find both sets of holes
and remove plugs the move becomes clear. Do not for get to
make sure there is a location on opposite door side for the handle
reattachment there will be plugs in those holes too.

How do i reverse the refrigerator door of an amana arb2217csl

you canot reverse the handles on this model. There are no predrilled holes or covering plugs on the opposite side. The model number ends in an "l" signifying left hinges. The companion model ends in an "r" with hinges on the right. These fridges were designed so you could purchase them as a pair seting them side by side.

I mant to reverse the opening swing of my refrigerator doors

You have to remove the doors, swap the hinges to the other side. Start by taking the top hinge off the freezer door (pop the plastic cover off the hinge to reveal the screws). If it has handles (some don't) you will need to swap them over as well. The screws are under plastic covers on the ends. There will be plastic plugs in the holes that will need to be removed and placed into the holes you took the screws out of. This is assuming your model has reversible doors. Most do, but some don't.

How do I switch the doors to the other side on my fridge/freeze? I'm in a rental and the doors are hinged on the opposite side which is really inconvenient. But of course no owners manual or instructions...

I hope your landlord won't mind.
If there is a water/ice dispenser in the door it may not be possible due to routing of the water and electric lines. If the doors can be reversed there should be mounting holes at the top and bottom of the doors opposite where the hinges are now. (They may be closed with plastic plugs that can be pried out.) Checl also how the existing handles are mounted. There should also be holes that correspond to having the handles on the opposite side. (Sometimes they are disguised by a manufacturer's nameplate over them.) If there are such holes then start at the top hinge of the top door. Pry the (plastic) cover off if there is one. Remove the bolts/screws and remove the hinge support. There is a post on it that fits into the hole at the top of the door. Remove the door by lifting it up off the bottom hinge post. Keep track of any washers, etc. that may be there. Unscrew the middle hinge support. Remove the bottom door. Unscrew the bottom hinge support. Remove (and save) any plastic plugs and install the hinge supports and doors in reverse order (bottom to top) on the other side. If there are separate door stops on the bottoms of the doors near the hinges that keep the doors from swinging all the way open, make sure you move them also to the other side. Relocate the handles. Put the plastic plugs, nameplate, etc. in the old holes.
Depending on how long you have been using the refrigerator in its current setup it may take you several days to stop trying to open it in the wrong direction. With model number you could download a manual from the manufacturer's web site. It should have details about reversing the doors. Good luck.
