There are a few reasons for this error, the first is a short in the wire that go's thru the hinge the wire sometimes gets worn as you open & close the lid, try moving your screen in different positions & running the webcam if it changes its behavior then it's a short, second is a conflict with a recent O.S. upgrade or update, try "slim drivers" I'll put the link bellow, it is a driver update bot, it is a freeware program but install it slow, never quick install on any software, make sure your not installing something you don't want, I thank it's "google chrome" that they have bundled with slimdrivers, anywho install & run, it will tell you if there are any hardware drivers out of date, to the right of the outdated driver info will be a link that will say "download" click on it, when its done fallow the prompts, after your done with it right click the icon in your lower right task bar & click exit then uninstall it from your system, one last thing if you go to Facebook or twitter & you don't run a malware program at least once a week you could have a serious infection problem & it will affect online systems! it a huge problem check out my video with the freeware fix

Camera assistant software not working? I have a Toshiba Satellite A305-S6872 laptop which came pre-loaded with Windows Vista. It also came with a built in camera and voice recording device. It is a Chicony...

Try going into the device manager and seeing if any is disabled or has a yellow exclamation next to it. If so try uninstalling it and refreshing the list to see if windows will reinstall it or reboot if it asks you to. If not then just look through the device manager to see if it is listed then uninstall it.

If you go into the control panel under cameras and scanners it should be listed there and you should be able to directly access it and preview video and take snapshots.

Go to Toshiba support website and ask them if this does not work. They may have an updated program or a proper driver for the webcam. If not then I am afraid the internal device has failed and your better off just getting an exteral webcam anyway. Logitech 9000 Pro is my recommendation.

Have you looked in "my computer"? It may show up as a removable drive. If it doesn't, try using a card reader to download your pics.

Wireless networking hardware not functioning properly.

Check on Device Manager if it is working properly

Right-click My Computer-Properties-Hardware-Device Manager
Click on the plus sign beside Network Adapter and double-click your wireless card.
Check on the device status if it says it's working properly.
Try to disable-enable the adapter by right-clicking on it under the device manager window.
If it has a question mark, it is most likely driver issues so contact your wireless card manufacturer or PC manufacturer if the wireless card is built in.

Wizard is recognizing my built-in burner, but soft ware was possibly deleted accidentally. Where can I find the software for it.

Right click my computer, choose properties, then click on Hardware, Click on Device manager.

In the Device manager window, expand DVD/CD-ROM Drives. Check for any warning signs (usually a small "yield" icon). If thats the case... Right click, choose properties, go to the Driver tab. and see if the device is working properly. Here u can choose to update the driver using Windows update site. But, most probably it wont find what your looking for.

So, your best bet is to; note down the Make & model of your built in burner.

Then go to the manufacturers site and download the newest drivers.

Also, do a windows update. this is fix any OS level issues that will not recognize your device.

hope this helps. .

Acer orbicam won't work

** Note ** When the My Pictures or Pictures folder gets full, camera will not work - Cut and Paste all pictures in that
folder to another folder and restart Orbicam program.

If that does not work then do this:

Start - Programs - look for Acer Empowering Technology then Acer E-Recovery - The look at the bottom and you will
"Backup", "Burn disk" and Restore" choose Restore - choose Apps and Drivers at the bottom of Restore tab (it will say
extracting) - once extracted - click Install or Guides and Manuals if needing Orbicam instructions - click Vista or (XP) on the left - click Drivers - click Camera or CCD - on the
right side of the screen, then look for Bison driver or (or your model which can be found in device manager - control panel - system - device manager - Imaging devices) you have then click a phrase that has something like "Install now", follow on screen instructions. Then repeat steps above and instead of driver choose Bison (or your model which can be found in device manager - control panel - system - device manager - Imaging devices) Utility
