Why Does the battery door not open

Bottom Door - Page 49

1) Remove ALL power. Remove the AC adapter (Charger), and Battery.

2) Position laptop bottom side up, Battery Compartment facing you.

3) Remove the Locking Screw if installed.
(Area where Battery Compartment meets Bottom Door, and in the Middle; is screw location)

4) Slide the Bottom Door release latches to release the door.
(One latch on each side of Bottom Door; where Bottom Door meets Battery Compartment. The Latches slide to the INSIDE of the laptop)

5) Slide the door towards the Front of the computer, and lift off.
(Front of computer is AWAY from you. On the opposite side of the Battery Compartment)

[ P.S., you remove the Bottom Door; you wear an ESD wrist strap, and have it's alligator clip attached to a good ground source; or you risk using the laptop for a Frisbee from now on, or a doorstop.

Had the same problem with my 99 ram. The problem is the bottom latch. It freezes up due to under use. The only way I could get mine open to fix it was to pull the door handle and get inside the cab and kick the door at the bottom at the same time as pulling the handle to get the latch to let loose. Had to kick it hard and several times. Good luck

If you squeese the handle put your head near the badge you should hear one micro switch operating the window and a noise like well hard to explain but its a solenoid operating the rear latch after the window drops, you can get the inside panel off bit hard with door locked; at bottom of door panel is four philips screws take them out and then the panel pulls from the bottom up,cut round water shredder and you can operate latch manually to get it open then check to see if micro switch in handle is working its not a rear wiper fault or window fault as they work, the relay for the rear door latch and the rear window are behind the offside rear quarter panel 3 connectors for rear door electrics, the relays are up by the seat at top,its not normally a relay issue either rear door latch solenoid or micro switch in back handle but rule out the handle as window works.

Disconect battery and wait 5 min and try again it worked on mine.

I have a 02 s 10 with a stuck bottom 3rd door latch. I took my seat balts loose removed the door panel,also removed the plastic latch yoy use to open door, the top latch was alredy opened and I put a needle nose vise grip on the lever going to the bottom I used to much and broke the little plastic retaing piece that holds the lever.I looked inside door with light saw my latch was in open pos and took pry bar to pry botton door from inside,once opened i used a 10 mm 1/4 in drive to take out 4 bolt's to latch.removed latch placed in vice and heated with burnsomatic torch,the latch is coated with a plastic so i burned it all off with vice grip on the lever to open and pliers the work the part that catches door striker I kept working it until it freed up then put antu seige on put back in truck. I recomend buying a new latch and put anti seize on it. that's my plan but at least it's working for now. or get a good used one from a junk yard. you can e mail me at [email protected] for ant Q's

Shut down the computer. Disconnect any cords connected to the computer.

Turn the computer over.

Locate the access door latch.

Push down to release the latch, this sets it in the open position, and remove the access door that covers the battery.

To replace the access door:

Line the access door up with the bottom case and the tabs in the battery bay.

Lower battery access door into place.

Make sure the toshiba laptop battery is level with the bottom case of your MacBook.

Press the latch into place, so it is in the closed position.

Remove the interior door panel this can be done with the door closed. peel back the moisture barrier, look inside the door and you will see a latch mechanism with two cables next to it, the top cable releases the top latch and the bottom cable releases the bottom latch, the top latch cable is probably not mounted to the latch (anchored) you will probably have to replaace it with a new one, then it should work fine. Make sure the cycle is complete

To open this latch, the handle works as a lever to push inward when you push up on the handle. If your handle if broken, it has probably ceased to work as a lever (the pivot pins have likely broken). You want to push in on the handle to open the latch, ideally toward the bottom of the handle opening. Once you get the latch open, you'll likely want to order a replacement (here is one source : http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Door-Latch/W10130694/1266678 ). Remember to turn off the power to the dishwasher, and you'll need a star head driver to remove the screws from the inside of the door to access and replace the latch.

I can tell you where the door latch release is.

Remove the lower front panel. (there are 3 #20 torx screws on the bottom of it holding it on towards the bottom) Once you have that panel removed, reach up just behind where you see the openings for the door latch. the black square hole and black round hol are all part of a larger door latch mechanisim. At the bottom of this mechanisim (cloest to where your hand will be) there is a "tab hanging off the bottom". Pull on the tab for a manual door release.
