Monitor will cycle through the menu screen every few seconds after being turned on.

Monitor will cycle through the menu every few seconds after being turned on. This menu is the one where you can select "adjust settings or volume". As it cycles through each option I'm only able to click the menu button to get it to go away for about 1-2 seconds before it comes back. The computer sound card works tried it with external speakers and also discontected the cable from moniter, menu still pops up and unable to adjust volume up or down

The menu button is stuck, use a sharp knife to pry the button out very lightly, not all the way out, just enough to make sure that it isnt stuck,if it still happens then the board for the menu button needs to be replaced

HP Monitor cycling through 'Quick View' menu options and menu buttons are unresponsive.

Your wiring may be causing "cross-talk". Separate the wires in back, so they do not touch. This should be an instant fix.

Lock on monitor adjustments don't know how to turn off the lock so we can adjust brightness and color

Follow these instructions :
  1. Turn on your Samsung monitor (if it isn't already.)

  2. Press the "AUTO" button on your Samsung monitor. This will run the automatic configuration utility. This will look at your current computer settings and adjust your monitor to best match those. This will take a few seconds. If this has calibrated the monitor to meet your needs, you are finished with the process. If it hasn't, continue to Step 3.
  3. Press the "Menu" button on your Samsung computer monitor.
  4. Use the arrows and the "Enter" button on the monitor to highlight and select various settings categories.
  5. Use the "Brightness" menu on your Samsung monitor to adjust how bright or dark you want the image.
  6. Use the "Colors" menu to adjust how prominent certain colors are displayed on your Samsung monitor.
  7. Use the "Contrast" menu to adjust the level of black on your Samsung monitor.
  8. Select "Save and Exit" to save your changes and exit the Samsung monitor's on Screen menu.

HP screen goes from USB lock out, to monitor going to sleep, to menu, none of which the cursor can activate. The hard drive was shut down but just having the monitor plugged in will cause this horrible...

Plastic explosives! U have a mess on your hands. I would save any and all files from the hard drive, do diagnostics on drive to make sure it is good, and if so, then just reload the OS and take it from there.

Screen Goes Blank

Ive seen this on other monitors. Look for a 1 and 2. Some monitors do NOT auto detect a signal, and this one might not. Look for a way to set the monitor from Digital input to VGA input. Try that and see.

Monitor black screen

Your first step in troubleshooting this problem is to plug in another monitor to your computer. If you are having the same problem it is related to your computer. If the second monitor works fine then your original monitor is shot.

Monitor Continually Goes Blank

You are right in assuming it to be the monitor.
It is the inverter circuit that powers the backlights inside the LCD.
No backllight, no view. If you shine a bright light into the screen you will see it is still working, just not visible.

The Viewsonic range of monitors have a habit after several years use developing bad capacitors that need to be replaced. It's something that happens to most LCD's and alot of other electronics.. so not a design flaw, just age.

If you have modest electrical knowledge then its an easy job, If not then take it to your local TV repairman and have them do it. It should not cost alot to have it done. The main expense in this case is the labour.
Call a few shops in the area and get rough quotes to have it done. You will be surprised how much the cost can vary for the same simple job.

You can fix it temp buy unplugging it and holding down the on-off switch for 30 seconds. Please let me know if you have a better fix.
