Non of the answers are helpfull. Unplug power.Remove bottom panel and there you find a door lock release. Pull n the door will unlock. Drain water from from pum(it has drain tube). Remove clothes. Move n push the tub a little on each side. Now plug drain pipe. Close door n put it to spin. Should work
SOURCE: does not spin
The close pin most likely broke the switch. Unplug the washer, remove the screws that hold the top and flip it back and remove the cabinet. with the cabinet off it is easy to replace the lid switch. Cost should be $20. to $30.
God Bless and Happy New Year.
SOURCE: drum off balance
It's either a bad suspension spring or you have a crack in the tub support.
SOURCE: Washer shakes violently when spinning at high speed.
is the washer level and on solid surface both will cause machine to dance

spin basket surport is defective..put unit in spin without clothes do it bang and clang,,sound like train ,or airplane,,if so contact whirlpool your under warrranty for spin basket..onthejob
SOURCE: washer sounds like off balance during spin
old duets have nut on rear pulley that becomes loose. remove rear panel and tighten nut. check while spinning by hand if pop is felt. if it rotates smoothly then you may need new shocks on tub
On older Maytag washers the lid switch doubled as the off balance switch. If the tub wobbled too much it would trip the lid switch and this will not reset until you open the door. The idea is that when you open the door you will adjust the load so that it is not off balance anymore. I don't know if you have one of the models I am referring to or not but if so this is your problem.
