SOURCE: player shuts itself off
There could be a damage or corrupted file in the sansa clip. I suggest to reformat the player. To reformat the player. First turn off the player. Then slide the power switch down it will be showing red, now press and hold the center or the middle button on the player while connecting the player to the computer. It will be detected as a drive on your computer, now right click on it and choose FORMAT, make sure the file system is FAT32 then click start to continue formatting the player. This will erase or remove all the songs on your player but this will fix the problem that you are having

Are any USB device connected to it? If so, disconnect them.
Try to start now, if this does not work:
When the system boots up, try hitting the F8 Key and see if you get a Windows menu? If so, try and start in Safe Mode. If this works, you have a hardware failure and you will not need to look for the problem. First place to start is reboot and F8 again and this time go in VGA mode. If this works, Run Windows update and this should replace any drivers that are not good, including video. If you cannot get in VGA mode, you know your problem, the video adapter or drivers. Remove them in Safe mode and run Windows Update.

Hi!
A simple test is to connect another working monitor, to figure out if the problem is at cable connection or at graphics card 's output, and replace properly.
good luck!
