Sounds like the FF(freezer fan) is wearing out this fan supplies the circulation for both the freezer and the refrigerator, when this fan motor starts to wear out it does not produce enough force to circulate air thru the freezer and refrigerator causing the area around the fan to ice up. The immediate solution is to unplug the unit for around four hours or use a portable hair dryer to melt the ice around the fan, but be very careful not to melt the plastic. That is why it is better to let the ice melt on its own by unplugging the unit. The minimum cost to repair/replace this fan assemble is around $300.00
