My GE Externa Series refrigerator is making a clicking sound about every 3-5 minutes and lasts for approximately 5 clicks every time. Is it the defrost cycle mechanism? Can you suggest a solution?

Refrigerator is an Externa Series type. The refrigerator is making a clicking/popping sound every 3-5 minutes and lasts for approximately 3-7 clicks and then stops. Does it have to do with the automatic defrosting cycle mechanism and can you suggest a repair?

Hi Brad, I think the problem might have to do with the automatic defrosting cycle control module. The clicking noise continues throughout the day & night at the frequency described in my original post. I will need a name and part number to purchase the part to do a repair.

Why my GE Monogram ziss480drjss is making loud knocking noise in every 4-5 minutes interval?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLR2vKxgwbM

A freezer compressor is what pumps chilled Freon -- or another cooling agent -- through coils that line the freezer compartment. ... The cooling agent inside the compressor is sensitive to being moved around, which can cause knocking noises. Also, loose components can cause knocking sounds.

My GDM-12 is not cooling. when I turn the temp up it make a loud humming sound.

If the humming last 3-5 seconds then makes a faint click sound and stops humming for a minute or two. Then resumes the hum again it may be your compressor locked down. Stuck. Most likely it is just a bad start capacitor not kick starting the compressor. A $6 part.

For the clicking if the fridge has been off for at least 5 min. and clicks when it tries to start then it may be the start relay on the compressor . If it does not stay off for at least 5 min then it may be the control which may also be why your display is not working.

Icemaker noises on almost new GE Profile refrigerator

I have not heard of this issue but if it is coming from the icemaker, then it will have to be replaced. You are still under warranty so call to have them replace it now, otherwise the new icemaker will cost you about $125.

I HAVE A GE PROFILE FRIDGE, WITH BOTTOM FREEZER. THE DISPLAY WORKS SOMETIMES OTHER TIMES IT IS BLANK. ALSO EVERY NOW THEN I GET A CLICKING SOUND FROM THE COMPUTER BOARD IN THE BACK, SOMETIMES IT LAST FOR A...

This is the main control board failing. My symptoms were identical (intermittent display and clicking), and eventually the clicking didn't go away and the freezer got hot. I replaced the main board yesterday and all is well (display works and no clicking). I was able to find the correct part number using the GE website (entered refrigerator model PD22S1S and then selected PDS22S1SARSS from the drop-down list). My part number was WR55X10656. The GE price was shown as $157.50, but I bought mine from ApplianceZone.com for $101.68. Hope this helps.
