Blinking power light & black screen on toshiba 57h81

I had the same issue with my 57 in. Mitsubishi. I fixed it by buying a new projection bulb. The Mitsubishi manual indicated this was the fix for my Mitsubishi TV. Be advised that new projection bulbs are not inexpensive. My TV works like new once the projection bulb was replaced.

Power supply cannot sustain / provide juice to the whole system.

your crt bulb is out and this repair is costly it would be cheaper to replace with a flat panel tv

It could be the lamp went out and needs replacement. The Toshiba website states when this happens to unplug the televison for 10 minutes then plug back in. If that does not work then try another power outlet. If that does not work then call for service

I have a toshiba 55hx70 same problem,repair guy just left said it was the power supply and wasnt worth fixing 350 to 400 dollars The tv is 9 years old and they wouldnt even take it to shop. Its been a great tv firs thing to go wrong.. Wo nder if I could replace it myself???

Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.

This sounds like the typical toshiba power regulator ic fault. it begins with an str##### Its not something a handyman should try to tackle. It should be repaired by a quilified repair person Sorry Good Luck
