Hello,

The #4 error code on your dishwasher says it's a drainage error and that the computer didn't detect that all the water drained out of the machine. Sometimes that can be caused by a blocked filter on the pump, a blockage in the drain hose or a water level switch failure...also it can be just a electronic anomalie and the board can be reset then the dishwasher will work as normal. Or of course it could be because the filter is clogged and needs to be cleaned so water will flow through it and drain out.
I have written tips both covering how to clean the pump filter and resetting the control board, refer to them and see if they will resolve your dishwasher troubles.

Hi! I have Whirlpool ADP6948 dishwasher. It's

Hi.

F4 points at at a drain problem, often the problem is caused by a dirty or defective pressure switch. Before replacing the pressure switch it is necessary to test the drain system.

First try turning power off from circuit breaker for few minutes and see if that is enough to clear the error code.

Turn power off from circuit breaker (or disconnect power cord) and clean the drain well inside the tub. Remove any water present in the tum. Check also the drain hose at the back of the appliance and make sure it is not kinked or blocked.

If that does not work remove the kick panel at the base of the dishwasher, locate the pressure switch and clean the hose connected to the pressure switch. The pressure switch is the device that detects water level, determining when to start and stop the drain pump. The pressure switch is a small plastic switch connected to a long rubber hose. If the hose gets blocked with detergent or if the switch is defective you get f4.

Resuming:

Try resetting the appliance to clear the error code.
If that does not work clean and check the drain system.
If still no luck check the pressure switch.

Disconnect power before doing any maintenance.

Regards.

Water will not drain completly.

Usually there must be a filter screen in the dishwasher which can cause this to happen. It goes to the drain . If there is accumulation of food particles in the dishwasher filter screen then draining may be obstructed which can cause the water to be stranded at the bottom.

Usually the filter is located at the back of the dishwasher near the drain. It is usually held in position by means of clips. You can just pop it out.Pour some hot water in the drain and clean the drain line also.

If after cleaning this filter also you are facing the problem of water not draining then the drain pump must have gone bad.

Light flashing after two minutes f 4 keeps showing

Hello there:
F4 error code - Similar to F2 but this time the dishwasher is specifically detecting a drainage fault. The drain pump might be malfunctioning but again, cleaning the filters and unblocking the drain might help solve the problem and is a good troubleshooting measure.

I have an error code f4 on my whirlpool adp 8966 dishwasher can you tell me what it means please

F4 indicates draining failure.Your washer drain pump starts and after 4 minutes the OWI(optical water indicator) detects that mashine is 'not empty'

Posible mailfunction reasons:
The drain pump must be defective/blocked
The siphon would have got closed
The control board would have got damaged
OWI defective

Whitlpool dishwasher problem

Hi

Error code F4 means its a drainage failure. If the water doesn't drain from your dishwasher, check these:
Drain line/air gap A clog in the drain line or air gap (if there is one) is the usual reason that a dishwasher won't drain. Often the problem is at the point where the drain line attaches to the garbage disposer or household drain line. If you remove this line, you can clear any debris from the hose or hose connection. Be sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher again.

Pump Your dishwasher pump ejects the water. The pump is usually mounted directly to the motor, then attached to the bottom of the dishwasher. You can reach the pump from inside the dishwasher, but first you need to remove the lower rack, the spray arm, and the spray arm support.

Look for an impeller--a round plastic fan blade-type of device that spins around. This is the wash impeller, which forces the water through the spray arm. Beneath the wash impeller is the drain impeller, which is similar in size and shape to the wash impeller. The drain impeller pushes the water toward the drain port. These components make up the pump. If any of the pump components are defective, you need to replace them.

Drain valve and/or solenoid Many dishwashers use a drain valve with an electric solenoid. When electricity flows to the solenoid, the valve opens and diverts the water to the drain. Sometimes the solenoid, or the diverting lever, sticks and prevents the dishwasher from draining or filling properly. Try to free up the solenoid to lubricate the lever. Otherwise, you may have to replace the solenoid or pump assembly. With these systems, the motor always rotates in one direction. When it's energized, the drain valve diverts the water.

Other dishwashers simply reverse the direction of the motor to drain the dishwasher. These units don't have a drain valve. Instead, there's a drain hose connected directly to the pump housing.

Belt One brand of dishwasher uses a belt to drive the pump. If this belt is broken or has fallen off, replace it.

Motor If the motor isn't turning or working, the unit won't drain. First check to be sure you have power to the dishwasher. If not, see the section "It doesn't work at all." If the motor hums but doesn't turn, it may need to be replaced.

Some dishwashers are susceptible to getting stuck if you don't run them regularly. If you haven't run the dishwasher for more than a week, you may need to manually spin the motor to free it up. If the motor is defective, you need to replace it. Dishwasher motors can't be serviced.

Timer Part of what the timer does is control the motor and drain valve. If the timer doesn't work properly, the water may not drain and you need to replace the timer. This problem is uncommon.

Please revert for further clarifications and Do rate the solution as FixYa if found useful.

Thanks
Rylee

Miele G 7856 Commercial Dishwasher

Hi. The above machine stops mid cycle and drain/fill light is on, also error code F3E, have cleaned both hot and cold water inlet filters, also checked drain pump and drain line, all ok. Machine drains with no issues and fills with hot water, runs for a while then shuts down.
Any ideas?

F4 Fault indication

F4 is a water inlet fault. It doesn't make sense if you have this fault indication with water flowing into the unit. Does the dishwasher drain properly? Usual suspects for an F4 indication would be a clogged inlet line, water supply turned off, bad fill valve, or a control board failure. Let me know if this helps, or give me a little more information on what you have done to correct so far.
