The product is quite old but was working perfectly and just suddenly stopped. I have tried emptying the water out and pushing all buttons in different orders but the 'CONT' light on the panel just keep flashing and the dehumidifier will not turn on. Can anyone please help?
Cont button just means continuous run mode . the power light is lit , the full light is out . try reseating the water catch bucket a few times , most machines have a safety that wont allow the thing to operate if bucket isn't just perfect in its slot (you don't want water on your floor )
Testimonial: "Hi, thanks for your answer, I've been playing about with the water tray lots in the hope that it will kick into action if I get it just right. However, after about 30 attempts I'm beginning to think the machine might just be kaput. If you'd tried the water bucket that many times would you call it day, or try something else? IF so what would you try?"
I have the same behaviour on a KALORIK ADH 7, panel is equal. CONT flashes for several minutes and then stops. Only then the bucket removal will make light red. Basically all sensor inputs are ignored until CONT stops blinking. Tested all capacitors on control board and they're ok, Power supply is also fine and stable at 5volts. Device starts when CONT stops blinking but then after some minutes it stops and CONT starts blinking again. Very weird. Fault seems to come from chip but not overheat is in place and power regulator is perfect.

SOURCE: Shows water container full and it is empty
We've had dozens of these in for more serious work but I noticed that the drain container on them has to be shoved in all the way in order to satisfy the control. What I do to get some peace while working on them is shove a small piece of styrofoam into the opening on the upper right where the tab in drain container goes in. Alternatively, if the mechanism needs adjustment you could bend the metal actuator bracket forward just a bit
SOURCE: Red light comes on for no reason. Danby DDR6588EE dehumidifier
I have a DDR4588EE (same model with 45 pint capacity) and had the exact same problem. It's caused by the float at the top of the bucket being in poor contact with the "full" detector button. When the bucket is not full, the float on the bucket is supposed to press against the button. When the bucket fills, the float is supposed to push up off the button which causes the unit to stop and the red light comes on. The problem is that for some reason, the float isn't pressing hard enough against the button to push it properly in when the bucket isn't full. I fixed it by sticking a few little squares of duct tape (3 or 4 layers) on the float to make it press the button more firmly. Seems to be working fine now. Careful not to put too much tape or it might press too firmly which would result in the float not releasing the button when the bucket is full, and water will spill over.

All, I had this same problem as well. I called the LG Support Line and they told me the unit needed to be serviced. I went through the motions of getting the service providers and what have you, but I wasn't going to go through with it because the closes service provider was a 45 minute drive. I posted how disappointed I was because I had only had the unit for a year, but could not find my earlier post.
Anyay, I am glad I went through the motions, because a few days later LG called and told me they would be shipping me a refurbished replacement. Wow. That was a treat. They shipped me a refurbished unit and had me send the old one back. I did not have to pay a dime. The sent me the Fedex shipping label via email and I called Fedex and they came by and picked it up.
I cannot remember if I had registered the unit when I initially purchased it. Sometimes I won't do that because it seems only to serve as a license to sell me stuff. They took down all my contact information and sent me the unit so I don't know. I would simply encourage everyone with the CH 01 error code to give LG a call via the support number from their website at lgappliances.com. Good luck!

Definitely check the air filter, it has a sensor and will stop working if it's dirty. Easy to clean by running water through it.

If the unit is titled forward at all, the "full bucket" "trip switch" will not trigger off as it should. Be sure the unit is on a flat, level surface, or leaning backward slightly--this also aids drainage through the drain tube, if that's your set-up.
