Jenn-Air JS42CSDBDA noticed Thursday that the door water dispenser was putting out warm water; thought it was maybe the pipe insulation had come off in the crawl space. Friday the dispenser was putting out what I consider hot water (93 degrees) unless we ran through about 8 glasses then it comes out with normal temp water (we have well water so it is typically pretty cold on its own) but still not refrigerated cold water. Friday, we also noticed that that the food from the two lower bins was warm and the displays were saying the temp was 59 and 60. I changed buttons to the different settings and they would say something in the 30 range for about 3 seconds then blip right back to 50/60 range. I don't need them heating the food! I put them on "normal" and moved everything into the shelf section. My son vacuummed the coil on top, although it didn't look that bad to me. We let it run that way overnight and it is still putting out hot water although we noticed that it seems to cycle between warm and hot and the bins are still warm. The upper section of the fridge is still cooling and the freezer is still freezing. Any suggestions on how to diagnose and fix this?

sounds like the evaporator fan in the freezer is not moving the air. also there is an air damper door at the top center of the fridge that controls air flow from the freezer to the fridge. check those two components and you will find your problem.

Check out partselect.com. need to replace defrost timer and defrost thermostat. good luck.

How old is this frig? If it is older that 12-15 years, get a new one. Make sure there is not blockage to keep the air from circulating properly. The vent from the freezer to the cooler should also be free from blockage as well.

the damper motor on the refrigerator portion is not working properly

Problem seems to be solved. I unplugged it for a short time and plugged it back in. I'm guessing it needed to be re-set.
