Rony, it sounds like your CD drive is dead or dying. Or, you might be running on low power. Did you add anything new, like a new video card, or anything else that would draw power to it?
Hey Bob if your Samsung is a CD-R/W burner and not a DVD burner then you will not be able to burn the DVD's you will need to upgrade to a DVD Burner, also with the CD's you will need to check that your CD burner is compatible with that type of disc,
Try this driver: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/search/supportSearchResultView.do?group=&group_cd=&type=&type_cd=&subtype=&subtype_cd=&model_nm=SW-252&dType=D&mType=&model_cd=&menu=download&prd_ia_cd=&disp_nm=SW-252&isEqualsY=
May be there are some cable fault. Just check that the cable CD-RW to Motherboard and the power cable from SMPS attached in CD-RW is ok. Then try. If it works then fine. If not, then just format C drive(Or where u have installed the OS). Coz I've already gone through a problem like this. In that case the cables ware ok. Then I just format the C drive and install a fresh copy of XP. And works fine till now.Let me know the result.
